Description

Incomplete recursive scans could look complete, provider root spellings produced wrong local names, and unfiltered self markers created ghost GUI children. This change reports partial outcomes, maps descendants relative to the known provider root and filters genuine self entries before they become children or consume scan limits.

Completes the remaining points 5-6 of Requested 54 in #1318. Points 1-4 are merged in #1343, so together the two PRs resolve the entire Requested 54 row.

  • Properties carries explicit partial metadata after depth/entry limits or cancellation and displays the existing translated partial-size note. Exact complete caps remain complete.
  • CLI tree reports partial/errors/truncated and exit 4 on incomplete walks, retaining readable nodes. An explicit display depth remains successful.
  • Recursive get and doctor/reconcile derive relative names from exact known root spellings, apply anchored excludes correctly and preserve actual remote checksum paths. Ambiguous download targets are refused before writing; ambiguous diagnostic inventories stay partial.
  • GUI download, Properties and both Compare scan paths filter well-formed self markers at the selected root. Nested cycles and differently named aliases pointing at the root still reach the existing refusal/boundary guards.

The cross-profile unreadable-child case was already fixed by #1316: its planner fails before any writes. Its existing regression is verified here; no redundant production change is included.

GUI: Properties, folder downloads and both AeroSync scans filter self markers and expose incomplete scans / CLI: get -r, sync-doctor and tree use corrected relative names and completeness / MCP: AeroAgent shares the corrected doctor/reconcile scanners; tree exposes listing errors and truncation.

Surface verification

Area Entry points and proof
GUI size and download src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs:10413, src/components/Dialogs/index.tsx:956, src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs:4380; exact-cap/cancel, marker and four provider-root spelling fixtures, plus the Properties UI tests.
GUI AeroSync src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs:8121, src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs:13407, src-tauri/src/sync_core/scan.rs:1941; pooled/locked root/cap/cancel/error fixtures, serial Compare tests and self/outside regressions. Relative names already come from child names, rather than caller-root stripping.
CLI src-tauri/src/bin/aeroftp_cli.rs:35504, src-tauri/src/bin/aeroftp_cli.rs:63770, src-tauri/src/bin/aeroftp_cli.rs:54783; relative-name, exclude, empty-folder, alias-collision, root-self and incomplete-tree fixtures.
MCP / AeroAgent src-tauri/src/ai_core/remote_tools.rs:3331, routed through src-tauri/src/mcp/tools.rs:1019; common doctor/reconcile fixture module. src-tauri/src/ai_core/remote_tools.rs:2415 already exposes errors/truncated; src-tauri/src/ai_core/remote_tools.rs:7440 verifies an unlistable root. MCP download_file takes explicit local_path and has no recursive root-stripping mapper.
Other size/listing paths CLI size already emits lower-bound metadata/warnings; MCP storage_quota exposes scan_truncated. GUI remote listing propagates failures at src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs:2414 and src/App.tsx:6456 shows the error; it does not return a successful empty response. The local sidebar tree uses local filesystem enumeration, with no remote recursive-tree completeness contract.

Validation

Sixteen regressions were observed failing before their fixes: nine library tests, six CLI tests and one UI test. The additional GUI regressions cover download, Properties at an exact entry cap, serial Compare at an exact cap, and shared pooled/locked scans retaining outside-path errors. Existing hostile-alias and nested-cycle tests passed.

Rebased after #1345 onto main 3cac7929d without conflicts, retaining its translations. Frontend: 272 files / 2491 Vitest tests, plus 14 Node tests; TypeScript passed. Focused Rust: 218 library tests and 10 CLI tests, all 228 passed. Fmt, diff check and strict all-targets Clippy passed (2m42s).

Local fixtures only; no live account access, GUI runtime or FUSE mount is claimed. No new locale keys. Full GitHub Actions remains the merge gate.

Checklist

  • Code style followed and commits signed off
  • Each fix has a regression observed failing first
  • GUI / CLI / MCP coverage checked with entry-point references
  • Rebased after fix(i18n): translate English from names, states and props #1345 and frontend unit/type checks passed
  • Final Rust focused tests, fmt and strict all-targets Clippy

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Folder properties now indicate when size totals are partial, including when a scan is limited or incomplete.
    • Recursive scan reports now show whether results are partial, along with error and truncation details.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved handling of provider-listed paths during remote scans and downloads, reducing incorrect totals and checksum results.
    • Self-referential folder entries are skipped, while ambiguous paths and duplicate download destinations are reported as errors.

Report incomplete Properties size scans and tree listings explicitly, preserving complete results at an exact cap and at a requested display depth.

Map recursive downloads and sync diagnostics through the exact root spellings learned by WalkScope, retaining relative child names and actual remote checksum paths. Skip root self entries without hiding outside-path errors, refuse ambiguous download targets before writing and mark ambiguous diagnostic inventories partial. Filter well-formed root self markers from GUI download, Properties and both Compare scan paths while retaining nested-cycle and ambiguous-alias refusal guards.

Resolve the remaining points 5-6 of Requested 54 after #1343 covered points 1-4. The unreadable-child cross-profile case is already fail-closed since #1316 and is verified by its existing no-write regression.

Refs #1318 and #1255.

📝 Walkthrough

Remote recursive walks map provider paths through learned root identities, skip root self-entries, and record listing failures, collisions, and truncation. CLI tree and folder-size results report partial scans. The application caches folder-size partial status and displays it in the Properties dialog.

Changes: Recursive Walks and Partial Results

Layer / File(s) Summary
Root identity and root-entry handling
src-tauri/src/sync_core/walk_scope.rs, src-tauri/src/sync_core/scan.rs, src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs
WalkScope identifies known roots and derives relative paths. Sync, folder-download, and serial Compare walks skip root self-entries.
Remote path mapping and scan diagnostics
src-tauri/src/ai_core/remote_tools.rs, src-tauri/src/bin/aeroftp_cli.rs
Remote scans and CLI download and doctor operations use scoped paths. Reconciliation uses provider-reported paths, and scans count out-of-scope or ambiguous entries as errors.
CLI tree partial-result reporting
src-tauri/src/bin/aeroftp_cli.rs
Tree walks track listing errors and entry-limit truncation. JSON and text output report partial results, and the command returns code 4 for partial output.
Folder-size partial status and display
src-tauri/src/provider_commands.rs, src/types/aerofile.ts, src/App.tsx, src/components/Dialogs/index.tsx, src/components/Dialogs/folderSizePartial.test.ts
Folder-size scans mark capped or cancelled results partial. The application caches the status, and the Properties dialog displays a partial-size note when scanning is complete.

Comment thread src-tauri/src/ai_core/remote_tools.rs Outdated
Review finding on #1349: the AeroAgent scan behind sync_doctor and reconcile, and the CLI sync doctor scan, skipped every entry whose path was the root, at any depth and under any name. A subfolder listing that named the root (a loop back) and a root-listing folder with another name and the root's path (an ImageKit d1 listed as /) were dropped silently, so a defective listing read as a complete scan. Both scans now skip only a well-formed self entry in the root listing (is_root_entry at depth 0), the rule the GUI paths already use; anything else falls through to the relative-name check and counts as a listing error. The "every folder listed as /" fixture now expects one diagnostic error.

Tests seen red before the fix: diagnostics_skip_only_the_roots_own_entry (loop back and alias read as a complete scan), requested54_cli_scan_counts_a_root_loop_or_alias_as_an_error, and the "every folder listed as /" case of sync_doctor_counts_each_remote_path_once_and_says_when_it_did_not and reconcile_compares_each_remote_path_once_and_says_when_it_did_not.
