Items currently lose the Random Property selected at creation. This Tracer imports Property Pools and enchantment effects, selects a property once, preserves it through item movement, and sends it in the client packets. Equipped properties add the current Strength, Agility, Stamina, Intellect, Spirit, crit, hit and armor terms. T2 will connect the remaining Stat Kinds to their combat and regeneration folds.

The importer reads the correct build 5875 Spell columns. The dependency's shifted field names otherwise classify most real effects as unknown. The general Spell importer repair is tracked separately in #460. All four World Import Profiles import 2,012 properties, 1,685 enchantment effects and 27,892 pool members in 772 pools from the supplied client archives and pinned ClassicDB dump. The 384 unsupported effect rows retain kind 0 and source spell references. Authored enchantments 7745 and 7748 keep their existing +3 Strength and +3 Stamina meanings.

Draft for the human review required by docs/danger-zones.md:

  • Three new catalogue tables: game_item_random_property, game_item_enchantment, game_item_property_weight. Effects retain separate slots and school masks.
  • END-appended default-zero u32 columns on ItemTemplate, ItemInstance, CorpseLoot, BuybackEntry, Mail, MailEscrow, Auction, AuctionHold, AuctionOperationReceipt and LootRoll. Existing items remain plain.
  • Lockstep arguments on realm_loot_op, realm_mail_commit, realm_mail_item_payout, realm_auction_commit_listing and realm_auction_refund_listing; full generated binding comparison covers every file.
  • Tagged item row formats in new Transfer blobs. Existing untagged item, buyback and mail blobs decode with their old row shapes and receive property 0. Older Modules refuse the new tags before committing an import.

A missing or invalid Property Pool refuses direct item creation before inventory changes. Loot creation logs that content defect and omits the affected item without leaving an empty loot cursor. Weights use exact hundredths and proportional bands in property-ID order; tiny weights may have no band at the 10,000-value resolution.

Checked source at b23d90e on main 627327f: importer 345 tests; Module 1,496; Gateway 1,422; shared 156. The complete local Gateway run initially failed only the unchanged trace-file test because /tmp/gw-writer-crash belongs to the service account. The final local run excludes that one test; CI retains it. Four Gateway tests remain opt-in in the ordinary suite.

Build, formatting, strict workspace clippy across all targets and features, offline preflight with Wasm schema extraction, and the complete 973-file generated binding comparison pass. Private Standalone acceptance passes 9 property tests, 3 auction/loot-roll movement tests and 1 real Coordinator armor projection test.

Reproduce the property acceptance on private disposable Standalone fixtures:

cargo test -p lyracore-module --features=debug_reducers --test random_properties -- --ignored --test-threads=1
cargo test -p lyracore-gateway armor_projection_adds_property_effects_only_while_the_item_is_worn_and_unbroken -- --ignored --test-threads=1

The first command kills a tagged creature, verifies the selected loot property survives a pool change and pickup, then proves equip adds 70 health and 9 Spirit. It also checks crafting atomicity, mismatched stacks, buyback, mail/escrow replay, auction refund replay, a cross-Shard Transfer, large Spirit amounts and invalid-pool loot omission. The second checks the real Coordinator armor projection before equip, after equip and after the item breaks.

No existing Realm was accessed. Realm import, a stock-client suffix tooltip check and the remaining T2 Stat Kind folds are outstanding. Refs #31.

Model: GPT-6 Astra, high effort. Harness: Codex in T3.

Review Change Stack

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

This change adds random-property catalogues, weighted selection, stat effects, compatibility enchantments, and persistent random-property identifiers. The identifiers propagate through item storage, loot, trade, mail, auctions, transfers, shared payloads, and gateway projections.

Changes

Random property lifecycle

Layer / File(s) Summary
Catalogue import and selection
importer/src/*, module/src/items/properties.rs, crates/lyracore-shared/src/item_property.rs, CONTEXT.md
The importer generates validated property, enchantment, and weight rows. The module selects weighted properties, aggregates supported stats, ignores unknown kinds, and seeds compatibility enchantments.
Persistent gameplay state
module/src/items/*, module/src/loot/*, module/src/auction.rs, module/src/mail*.rs, module/src/trade.rs
Item, loot, auction, mail, buyback, and trade records store random-property identifiers. Creation, stacking, loot settlement, equipment stats, and replay paths preserve them.
Gateway schemas and transport
gateway/src/stdb/*, gateway/src/codec/*, crates/lyracore-shared/src/{loot_roll,trade}.rs
Bindings, reducers, reads, subscriptions, codecs, and schema checks carry random-property identifiers. Legacy payloads default missing values to zero.
Legacy transfer compatibility
module/src/transfer/*
Exports mark current item-row formats. Imports upgrade legacy item, buyback, and mail rows with zero defaults for missing identifiers.
Validation coverage
module/tests/random_properties.rs, module/tests/loot_roll_promotion.rs, gateway/tests/schema_parity.rs
Tests cover property selection, stat aggregation, loot persistence, inventory behavior, replay flows, cross-shard transfer, promotion, and schema parity.

Estimated code review effort: 5 (Critical) | ~120 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 8b72d

Random-property updates may leave invalid property pools, lose properties in gameplay flows, or prevent package-defined item templates from using property pools. These issues should be addressed before merge.

Add the random_property claim handler.

apply_item_field falls through for random_property. A package row that sets this field returns "game_item_template has no claimable column random_property". Package imports cannot configure an item template to use a property pool.

Exercise item_random_property_id in SMSG_LOOT_ROLL_WON tests.

The ROLL_WON relay already forwards property_id to build_loot_roll_won. These cases pass 0 and do not assert item_random_property_id, so they do not guard this mapping against regression. Use nonzero values and assert both fields.

Cover non-zero property IDs in sharded promotion tests.

Use a non-zero random_property_id only in the loot_op::START fixtures, preserve _random_property_id in InMemoryStore::realm_loot_op, and assert it in the recorded operation. The unsharded and non-disband fixtures do not promote rolls. No existing module or gateway promotion test covers a non-zero ID.

Add non-zero random_property_id coverage to the gateway mail round trip.

The production send, escrow, and take paths already copy this field. However, sword() uses 0, so the gateway assertions can pass if a non-zero value is dropped. Set it to a non-zero value and assert that the mail row and taken AttachedItem retain it.

273-273: 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Keep property catalogues and property weights consistent.

If a later build-5875-compatible DBC catalogue removes a property, this standalone --dbc --apply path reloads game_item_random_property but leaves existing game_item_property_weight rows unchanged. A prior full import can then contain pool members for missing properties. Direct item creation fails and loot omits those drops. Reject standalone property-catalogue applies, or reconcile the property weights in the same import.
