Random Properties already survive item creation and reach the shared equipment fold, but Stat Kinds beyond the first attributes and ratings did not affect gameplay. Health, mana, resistances, weapon damage, avoidance, regeneration, spell power, and healing rows could exist without changing their callers.

This change applies those Stat Kinds through the existing item projection. It activates the six Item Template resistance columns, filters spell and healing power by school, preserves per-hand weapon selection, and sends all seven effective resistances to the character sheet. Flat MP5 continues during recent mana use, flat HP5 continues in combat, and an absolute-time fold preserves rates below one point per tick. Working equipment remains the gate, so unequipped and broken items contribute nothing. Stacked aura resistance arithmetic and the positive armor-aura total saturate before projection. No schema changes are included.

Depends on merged #462. Part of #31; this PR does not close the issue.

Final Gateway checks at 0e9e855a8a2aa8b7c008aa4e98e0e0418d8af50a, on merged Spell repair 044b935:

  • 1,323 Gateway unit tests and 119 integration/parity tests passed.
  • The durable resistance projection case passed. Its added overflow case failed first with signed addition overflow, then passed with an unsigned saturating total.
  • Strict all-target, all-feature Gateway lint, formatting, diff checks and offline preflight passed.

The unchanged Module source passed 1,501 unit tests, all four durable Stat Kind cases and strict lint at 527606e. The unchanged local trace-file test remains filtered because its fixed /tmp/gw-writer-crash path is owned by root in this environment. CI runs it. The regeneration fixtures compare expected values in the sampled row, removing the second-query race found in review.

Prepared by GPT-5.6 Sol at high reasoning effort in the Codex T3 harness. GPT-6 handled final integration, review and checks in the Codex CLI.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Character resistance values now include Holy, Fire, Nature, Frost, Shadow, and Arcane schools.
    • Equipped items, enchantments, auras, and random properties now contribute to resistances and combat ratings.
    • Health and mana regeneration now support flat item bonuses, including during combat and mana regeneration pauses.
    • School-specific spell power and healing power are now applied.
    • Equipped bonuses now affect defense, dodge, parry, block, weapon damage, and health/mana pools.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved handling of negative values, overflow, saturation, broken equipment, and healing calculations.
    • Healing now correctly uses healing power.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change expands equipped-stat aggregation across combat, spells, regeneration, and resistance calculations. Gateway entities now carry and serialize six magic resistances. World entry and paperdoll updates load all effective resistances. Tests cover school filtering, broken equipment, arithmetic bounds, and serialization.

Changes

Character statistics and resistance flow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Item stat contracts and aggregation
module/src/items/ops.rs, module/src/items/properties.rs, module/src/items/rules.rs
Item statistics now include resources, resistances, combat ratings, weapon damage, spell power, healing power, and regeneration. Aggregation supports school-specific enchantment and property filtering.
Combat, spell, and regeneration calculations
module/src/combat/*, module/src/creatures/cycle/*, module/src/skill.rs, module/src/spell/*
Equipped statistics now affect combat ratings, weapon damage, defense, regeneration, derived pools, spell power, healing power, and resistance bonuses. Signed arithmetic uses clamping or saturation.
Gateway resistance projection and world wiring
gateway/src/stdb/armor.rs, gateway/src/stdb/subscriptions.rs, gateway/src/stdb/reads/account.rs, gateway/src/stdb/world_store.rs, gateway/src/world/*, gateway/src/stdb/views.rs
The gateway calculates seven effective resistances and refreshes them after aura, equipment, and login changes. World entry assigns six magic resistance values to player entities.
Resistance serialization and validation
gateway/src/codec/*, module/tests/random_property_stats.rs, module/src/tripwires.rs
Codec builders and player creation encoding now preserve all resistance values. Tests cover resistance projection, school-specific stats, broken equipment, weapon damage, regeneration, and updated dead-code allowances.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~60 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 0e9e8

This change expands equipped-item stats across character combat, regeneration, and resistance displays, but worn armor may no longer affect server-side physical mitigation and regeneration may add repeated equipment-stat reads. The armor behavior should be confirmed or explicitly accepted before merging.

Avoid running the projection twice during login.

char.rs calls both wrappers, and each wrapper runs effective_resistances, scanning the aura, enchantment, and item-instance caches. Expose the combined result to this caller and index it once.

Gate equipment-stat reads to player entities.

A hurt creature reaches healed_to or combat_healed_to, which calls equipped_stat_bonus. This scans the owner's indexed item rows, then checks equipment slots, templates, and durability. Creatures do not reach powered_to because their max_power is zero. The pass runs every eight 0.5-second ticks, or about every four seconds, across a live population of about 2,500 creatures. tripwires.rs budgets only the initial entity scan. Return zero equipment bonuses for non-player entities while preserving creature health regeneration. A shared equipment scan is an alternative for player health and power stats.

The current commit 12f7e3f has completed CodeRabbit review with no unresolved findings. Durable CI failed in the unchanged Binding quest test while polling for a transient corpse row: failed run.

This is the same failure tracked in #469 and fixed by #470. I will integrate that fix before restarting CI. The changed regeneration test passes locally on an owned Standalone.
