The Gateway still had a delayed ranged-damage path that could start a thread for each viewer. The Module now emits launch rows with zero damage and reports final damage at impact, so no current producer reaches that path.

Remove the obsolete thread and sender dependency. Ranged launches send SPELL_GO; the Module's impact event sends the damage log. Melee damage and killing-blow packets keep their behavior. This cleanup does not claim a current throughput gain.

Verified with 1,382 Gateway tests, including launch hit/miss, authoritative impact and melee packet cases. The Module's existing launch/impact contract test also passed. Independent review traced all three CombatEvent producers. Legacy schema fields and generated bindings stay in place.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Combat Updates

    • Ranged attacks now display launch events immediately, with impact damage processed separately for more accurate combat results.
    • Ranged hit and miss outcomes are handled consistently.
    • Melee combat now properly stops subsequent actions when a killing blow occurs.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved combat event handling to prevent delayed or duplicate ranged damage-log events.

The combat relay path now passes the created visibility set directly. Delayed ranged damage scheduling was removed. Tests cover ranged launches, impact damage, visibility gating, and melee killing-blow stop packets.

Ranged launch and impact handling is separated, but viewers transitioning through an area may receive ranged damage packets before receiving the caster CREATE packet. Add the visibility gate and coverage before merging.

1147-1147: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Add a visibility check to the SpellCastEvent dispatch.

cell_audience performs only spatial selection. cast_event_appeared does not check viewer.created before cast_event_outbound queues SMSG_SPELLNONMELEEDAMAGELOG. An AOI transition can therefore send a damage log for a caster whose CREATE the viewer has not received. Add the caster CREATE check and tests for created and non-created viewers.

The caster-CREATE filter would suppress valid damage feedback, so I am keeping the existing impact delivery. cast_audience deliberately includes the target owner outside the caster’s cell; cast_impact_and_emote_reach_the_actors_box_and_both_owners covers that route. Ground-area ticks in module/src/spell/scheduler.rs select victims around the stored area even after the caster moves away. Those ticks apply damage and emit a proc-log event. Requiring the caster in the victim’s created set would then hide the victim’s damage log. Ranged impacts also retain their target after launch without requiring the attacker to remain in the victim’s AOI.

An independent review traced these producers and the recipient selection. The reference implementation also broadcasts non-melee damage logs without a recipient known-GUID filter: Unit.cpp, GridNotifiers.cpp. This does not prove every client edge case, but there is no evidence for a general requirement to gate this packet on caster CREATE.

This PR removes only the unreachable delayed CombatEvent branch. The authoritative SpellCastEvent impact route stays unchanged. The focused launch/impact tests and full isolated Gateway suite pass. The generic docstring percentage warning does not justify adding comments to straightforward private test helpers under this repository’s coding standards.
