Getting Java

1(A). Java Platform Development Kit (JDK) for developing, compiling and testing Java programs (we have developed under Java 6)

To determine whether a Java Virtual Machine is installed in your computer, open a Command Prompt/Terminal window (In Windows From the Start menu choose ‘Run’ and type ‘cmd’) and type ‘java –version’. If a Java run-time engine is installed, the screen should return a message stating what version of Java is installed. If you do not have a Java runtime engine installed or if the version is earlier than 1.5, you will need to install the newest JVM from the link above.
