docs/cli/installation.md listed com.bugsee:bugsee-cli on Maven Central. It isn't published there (repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/bugsee/bugsee-cli/ returns 404); the Android Gradle plugin downloads the CLI from download.bugsee.com.

Removes the table row and states where the Gradle plugin gets the CLI. Markdown-only change; I did not run the Docusaurus build.

com.bugsee:bugsee-cli is not published to Maven Central (the repository
returns 404). The Android Gradle plugin downloads the CLI from
download.bugsee.com, so say that instead.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated Android Gradle plugin installation guidance to identify download.bugsee.com as the CLI download source; Maven Central is no longer listed as a distribution channel.
    • Clarified that cliVersion sets a minimum baseline: the plugin may use a newer CLI release within the same major version, but won’t select a lower version or a different major version.

The installation guide removes Maven Central as the Android Gradle plugin’s listed CLI source. It states that the plugin downloads the CLI from download.bugsee.com. It also explains that cliVersion sets a minimum baseline and that the default update can move to a newer release within the same major version, but not to a lower version or a different major version.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Change: Other

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 1c47f

The guide explains that the Android plugin may update the CLI, but later says build plugins pin it. Readers may expect an exact version to remain fixed; the documentation should be made consistent.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/cli/installation.md: The Maven Central package listing for the Android Gradle plugin is replaced with a description of the plugin’s direct download from download.bugsee.com and its version rule: cliVersion is a minimum baseline, and the default update may only move to a newer version within the same major.

Review of PR #98: remove the non-existent Maven Central channel

  • Read the diff and the full docs/cli/installation.md
  • Cross-checked the Android Gradle plugin docs for how it gets the CLI
  • Ran the spell check on the changed file
  • Posted the review

Findings

I found no bugs or regressions. I posted no inline comments.

What I checked

  • Gradle plugin claim: the new sentence says the plugin "downloads and pins" the CLI. docs/sdk/android/gradle-plugin/releases.mdx:177-179 says the plugin "downloads, verifies and caches" the bugsee-cli binary and exposes cliPath / cliVersion settings. The two agree, and neither mentions Maven for the CLI.
  • Leftover Maven references: I grepped docs/ for others. The remaining ones are legitimate. They cover the Android SDK and Gradle plugin artifacts (com.bugsee:bugsee-android-gradle-plugin) and the KMP SDK, not bugsee-cli.
  • Internal links and front matter: no links or front matter changed.
  • Spell check: npx cspell docs/cli/installation.md -c cspell.json reported 0 issues.

What I could not check

  • The 404 and the host: WebFetch was denied in this run, so I did not confirm that repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/bugsee/bugsee-cli/ returns 404. I also did not confirm that the plugin's download host is exactly download.bugsee.com. The PR description asserts both, and the existing docs are consistent with them. Please make sure someone who owns the plugin source confirms the host.
  • The Docusaurus build: I did not run it, and the author says they didn't either. It's a plain paragraph in an existing .md file with no new links or components, so the risk is very low. CI will build it.

Optional nits (P3, not blocking)

  • Intro sentence: the intro to "Other channels" (lines 54-56) says these channels exist "so each SDK can bundle a pinned CLI". The new paragraph then says the Android plugin uses no package manager. Reading both together is slightly awkward. You could reword the intro, or open the new paragraph with "Exception:".
  • Settings link: the new paragraph could point readers at the plugin's cliPath / cliVersion settings, for example by linking to Builds & uploads. That helps people who need to pin or mirror the CLI.

Summary

  1. Overall risk: Low.
  2. Merge recommendation: Approve. This is a small docs correction, and merging it after CI passes is reasonable. Confirm the download host with the plugin owners if you want to be thorough.
  3. Most important issues to fix: none.
  4. Positives:
    • It removes inaccurate install guidance, which would otherwise send users to a package that doesn't exist.
    • The replacement text matches the Android plugin docs.
    • It is a minimal, focused diff.

Re-review of PR #98 after the new push

  • Read the full diff against origin/main (both commits) and docs/cli/installation.md
  • Cross-checked the new wording against the Android Gradle plugin docs and docs/cli/update.md
  • Ran the spell check on the changed file
  • Checked whether the earlier review and CodeRabbit comments are addressed

Findings

I found no bugs or regressions and posted no inline comments.

Earlier feedback

  • CodeRabbit (lines 64-65, "pinned" implies no auto-update): this looks fixed by 1c47f51. The paragraph now calls cliVersion a "minimum baseline" and says the plugin may update to a newer release of the same major version, never a lower one or across a major.
  • My earlier nits: the "Exception:" wording and the settings link are still open. Both are optional and not blocking.

Consistency checks on the new wording

  • Plugin docs: docs/sdk/android/gradle-plugin/releases.mdx:176-180 says the plugin downloads, verifies and caches the CLI and "keeps it up to date". It lists cliPath, cliVersion and cliAutoUpdate as the settings. That matches the "baseline" and "may update" wording.
  • Update rules: "same major, never across a major" matches docs/cli/update.md:16 and docs/cli/installation.md:105.
  • Default behavior: the text says "by default the plugin may update it", so it correctly implies cliAutoUpdate can turn this off. I found no page that documents the default value of cliAutoUpdate, so I could not check the "by default" claim against one.
  • Leftover Maven references: none are about bugsee-cli.
  • Spell check: npx cspell docs/cli/installation.md --no-cache -c cspell.json reported 0 issues.

What I could not check

  • The host and the 404: I did not confirm that repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/bugsee/bugsee-cli/ returns 404, and I did not confirm that the plugin downloads from exactly download.bugsee.com. The PR description asserts both. Someone who owns the plugin source should confirm the host.
  • The Docusaurus build: I did not run it. The change is one plain paragraph in an existing .md file, so the risk is very low. CI will build it.

Optional nits (P3, not blocking)

  • Intro wording: the intro to "Other channels" (lines 54-56) says these channels exist "so each SDK can bundle a pinned CLI". The new paragraph then says the Android plugin uses no package manager. You could start the paragraph with "Exception:" to make that read cleanly.
  • Settings link: the paragraph could point to the cliPath, cliVersion and cliAutoUpdate settings, for example by linking Builds & uploads. That helps readers who need to pin or mirror the CLI. This assumes that page documents those settings, which I did not check.

Summary

  1. Overall risk: Low.
  2. Merge recommendation: Approve once CI passes. Ideally someone confirms the download host first.
  3. Most important issues to fix: none.
  4. Positives:
    • It removes install guidance that pointed users at a package that doesn't exist.
    • The latest commit addresses the CodeRabbit point about pinning versus auto-update.
    • The new text agrees with the plugin release notes and the CLI update docs.
    • The diff is small and focused.
