The settings no longer open a separate window: the island's gear, the tray's Settings, the companion's gear and "Open Settings" in the chat open them as a panel that grows out of the open island, under its bar.

The settings panel under the island's bar, on Place

what changed

  • A panel under the deck's bar, the deck's width, black, corners and shadow, with a rail of ten sections and the section scrolling on the right (island/settings/).
  • Every setting keeps its storage key and behaviour; the brain-and-model controls are their own component (BrainSettings.svelte) so the model picker can be swapped in.
  • The gear toggles the panel; Escape, a press elsewhere in the window and a click outside it close it; starting the bar's edit mode closes it.
  • Open and close animate clip-path, transform and opacity only, with a fade alone under reduced motion.
  • With the robots loose on the desktop, the island is drawn while the panel is open, then goes away again.
  • The settings window, ?view=settings, SettingsApp, CompanionSettings and the settings capability are gone; only_bots became only_companion.
  • bots_settings now takes an optional section, brings the companion's window forward and emits companion://settings; the tray uses the same path.
  • Request cards under the panel no longer take its keys: Escape used to deny the permission waiting under it.
  • Demo pose pose=settings&section=<id>.

to question

The panel opens its own core connection on first use and keeps it, as the old window did, rather than sharing the companion's client, whose type is the group client.

verified

  • bun run check: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
  • bun run test: 458 passed, including new panel state, section routing and Escape tests.
  • bun run test:scripts: 4 pass; bun run check:manifest: accepted.
  • cargo clippy --target x86_64-pc-windows-gnu --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean.
  • Captures at 1280x900 of the ten sections, the closed island and the reveal mid-way, all opened and checked.
  • not verified: the Windows build itself, the tray item and the click-outside event in the real shell, 144 to 240 Hz smoothness on hardware.
