Problem

The previous slice lets Enable save waiting_for_domain for a workflow whose email domain is still verifying. People cannot see that status anywhere in the app yet, and the rest of the product still treats a waiting workflow as off. So its cohort can be deleted, project search leaves it out, and its suggestions scout stops while it waits.

This is the second slice of "send once verified" (Silthus/personal#195), stacked on #590.

Warning

🟡 Merge risk: medium · two-way door (merge-risk rubric)

  • Widens the cohort delete and edit guards, project search, and the suggestions scout from active to active or waiting_for_domain. No migration, no new write path.
  • The worst case is a cohort edit or delete refused for a waiting workflow, with the "enabled workflows" message. Waiting workflows exist only with workflows-email-domain-wizard on.
  • This PR lands together with the slice below it and the slice above it in one merge-queue batch.

Changes

  • Workflow header. A waiting workflow shows a "Waiting for domain" tag and "Sending starts once every email domain is verified." The auto-save tooltip says the same.

  • Workflows list. The status column shows "Waiting for domain", and the status filter has a "Waiting for domain" option.

  • List toggle. A waiting row's Disable now turns it off. Before, the toggle sent active again for any status other than active.

  • Cohort guards. A waiting workflow blocks deleting its realtime cohort, or an edit that stops the cohort updating in real time. Messages and API help text say "enabled workflows".

  • Search. Project search and PostHog AI entity search return waiting workflows.

  • Suggestions scout. It keeps running while an opted-in workflow waits. It starts again when the workflow is turned on, whether it goes to waiting or live, and when a waiting workflow goes live through an edit. So the scout is already on when the domain verifies and the workflow goes live by itself.

  • Mechanical: renamed the cohort facade helpers from active to enabled; regenerated cohort and MCP types for the new help text; the list toggle calls the generated hogFlowsPartialUpdate client.

The header wraps its buttons above the title, and the tag and text stay on one line. The filter bar wraps onto two lines. The table scrolls sideways, as it does on master.

Production lines: 153 (+86 −67) against the base branch, by git diff --numstat. Tests and generated types are excluded.

Replaces part of PostHog#123660 (the send once verified core). The enable-requested and waiting-cancelled events, wait-time properties, the enable prompt and the sender notice follow in later slices.

How did you test this code?

  • Lane gate on HEAD: ruff lint and format, hogli ci:preflight --strict (pre-push, no failures and no new semgrep findings), repo-wide mypy (clean), frontend typecheck (clean). Suites of every touched module ran: products/workflows/backend, posthog/api/test/test_search.py, posthog/api/test/test_cohort.py and posthog/api/test/test_integration.py (all passed). The workflows list logic Jest tests passed on HEAD, and the cohort scene Jest tests passed on the slice's earlier head; no cohort frontend file changed since.
  • CI: fork CI cannot run here, so CI on HEAD is a recorded gap.
  • Red → green: each new case failed on the base branch and passes on HEAD (evidence in proof storage).

UI walk: headless Chromium against a dev server and the Vite dev frontend from this branch, on a private database with invented workflows, flag stubbed on. "Spring newsletter" was enabled through the API with an unverified sender, so it waits. The walk covered the list tag, the status filter and its option, the filtered list, the header tag and text, an active header for contrast, Disable on the waiting row (saved as draft), and the same views at a 520 px scene. The "Last 7 days" column stays loading because the private setup has no app metrics table in ClickHouse; that is unrelated to this change.

Test rationale:

  • test_delete_cohort_is_blocked_by_enabled_workflows_using_it[waiting_trigger] (test_cohort.py): a waiting workflow blocks the cohort delete. The existing cases already cover active and draft.
  • test_hog_flows in test_search.py, now parameterized over draft, active and waiting: search returns a waiting workflow.
  • Three scout tests in test_workflow_proposals.py: the scout keeps running while its workflow waits, enabling into waiting starts it again, and a waiting workflow that goes live starts a scout its enable could not grant.
  • workflowsLogic.test.ts: the URL status filter accepts waiting_for_domain, and the list toggle saves draft for an active or waiting row and active for a draft row.

Test seams: the cohort, search and HogFlow REST APIs, and workflowsLogic.

What the toolbar ships to customer pages, measured from the esbuild output (minified, post-tree-shake). The eager set is the entry plus everything statically imported from it — fetched before any feature runs; deferred chunks load lazily. The eager guardrail is 5.72 MiB. Each output file must also stay below 10 MB, where CloudFront stops compressing it. The module boundary is enforced separately by check-toolbar-graph.
