Playerbots could retain a quest after its required executor or delivery item became unavailable. It also lacked a versioned record of the quest's source, destination and actual ender.

Add the twelve-quest Northshire/Elwynn catalogue for Warrior, Priest and Mage. Admission checks core eligibility and every objective's executor. Held work retains its source and ender across defense; unsupported work selects a supported alternative or records a specific wait. A human-led party takes control while preserving held quest progress. Finite Quest objectives retain deadline, movement failure and deferred retry behavior.

Paired Core #490 supplies the typed gameplay operations and importer correction. Provisioning Package #29 is merged. This branch is rebased onto it and runs all four durable targets against merged Core main under one full-union build.

Validation:

  • Combined CI passed 20 companion, eight provisioning, 11 catalogue and 37 shared durable cases, plus 1,637 Module library tests. The orchestrator verified 68 clean case inputs and 99 attribution records against Core 5e4a336 and Package 2d1f6c5. Tested Package merge e3ceb9b0 has the reviewed tree.
  • Both independent review axes approve the source. Core 7d66267 is rebased onto merged provisioning Core 4353fb7; its complete tree equals the tested 5e4a336 tree and all 15 rebased commits have unchanged patches. All final Core checks passed. Core #490 merged as dae05c1b78cfd4b59f24968ec8be41f75ce896d1 with the reviewed tree. Package d422c4e is rebased onto merged provisioning 1a482be; all eight behavior patches and the playerbots source tree are unchanged. Final Package CI passed all 76 durable cases and 1,637 library tests against merged Core. Root verified 68 clean case inputs and 99 attribution records. Package feat(playerbots): admit supported starter quests #28 merged as 2028771d15c8efe87b50d2b6795315221953055d; its tree equals the reviewed head and tested PR merge a5de9bb7.

The private fixtures use named seeded content and geometry. Fixture ownership refuses existing or imported catalogue data before writes. Imported-world and attended-client evidence remain separate release gates. No production realm was accessed.

Implemented with GPT-5.6 Sol in Codex, with GPT-6 orchestration and independent Spec and Standards review.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The playerbots package adds a versioned Northshire/Elwynn quest catalog with admission checks, retention, synthetic fixture reducers, loot actions, and quest-aware runner behavior. CI now builds the required Wasm revisions and runs the quest catalog fixture tests.

Changes

Quest catalog and execution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Catalog schema and refresh
playerbots/src/quest_catalog.rs
Adds catalog tables, static quest definitions, destination resolution, content hashing, reference revisions, and refresh logic.
Quest admission and retention
playerbots/src/quest_catalog.rs
Validates quest eligibility, objectives, sources, and capabilities. Records admission states and retains active quest objectives.
Synthetic quest fixture and validation
playerbots/src/quest_catalog_fixture.rs, playerbots/fixtures/quest-catalog.json, playerbots/README.md
Adds guarded fixture staging and reducers for quest admission, combat, loot, inventory, unsupported objectives, level checks, and catalog refresh validation.
Quest actions and runner integration
playerbots/src/actions.rs, playerbots/src/decision.rs, playerbots/src/mod.rs, playerbots/src/runner.rs
Adds loot and game object actions, quest reason and objective types, catalog initialization, quest objective retention, and quest-specific strategy selection.
CI checkout and fixture test coverage
.github/workflows/core-tip.yml
Pins LyraCore revisions, builds the preceding Wasm module, and runs the rewrite and quest catalog tests.

661-679: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Gate the GameObject template lookup on source_kind.

Line 661 looks up game_gameobject_template for every source entry, including entries whose source_kind is Creature. Creature entries and GameObject entries are separate id namespaces. If a GameObject template shares a numeric id with a creature source entry (for example creature entry 6 in Q7), its type_id, data0, data1, lock_id, and loot rows enter the content hash.

The effect is over-invalidation, not wrong data: an unrelated GameObject row change flips content_revision and triggers a full refresh_catalog. Restricting the lookup to Some(CatalogEntityKind::GameObject) keeps the hash input aligned with the entries the objective actually uses.

♻️ Proposed narrowing of the lookup

Deduplicate the shared preceding-Wasm build logic without merging the builds.

The blocks build different pinned Core/Package pairs, so both validations must remain. Their build commands are identical; move the common sequence into a parameterized helper and invoke it for each pair.
