Core sent every Companion Order outcome to the client under the command name playerbots.order.result. That string belongs to the playerbots Package, so Core named a Package. Seven debug reducers and two Gateway log lines also carried the Package name.

Now the Package names its reply. game_client_command! takes a third argument, a &'static str const, and Core sends each outcome under that name. playerbots registers the same string, so the addon bytes do not change. The seven playerbots_fixture_command_* debug reducers are now party_command_fixture_*. I regenerated the Gateway bindings with the danger-zones flags, and the diff holds only the renamed reducers. The group intent log lines lose their playerbots: prefix. Core tests now use the neutral example.order name. No table or column changes.

The marker shape changes, so a Package that uses the two-argument form stops building. playerbots is the only user, and its paired PR updates it. Package API version 1 is still unreleased, so I updated the doc and kept the version number.

Paired with LyraCoreProject/packages#68. Merge Core first, then the packages PR at once.

Validation, on the workstation with no Package installed: cargo fmt --all -- --check and workspace clippy with -D warnings pass. The CI test set passes: Module lib (1,748), package_api_lint (32), Gateway, shared, test-support and importer. scripts/check-gateway-bindings.py reports all 1,173 binding files current. With the packages branch installed, the Module union compiles and passes 1,865 tests, and the debug_reducers wasm builds. Packages CI pins this branch head. Its stock-client companion acceptance case checks the STC\tv1|playerbots.order.result|... reply bytes.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The game_client_command! marker now registers a reply command, which the bridge uses for parser errors and completed outcomes. Fixture reducer bindings and call sites use party_command_fixture_* names. Related tests use example.order command names.

Changes

Client command replies

Layer / File(s) Summary
Reply command registration
module/src/lib.rs, docs/package-api.md, module/build.rs, module/src/bridge.rs
The marker now accepts parser, apply, and reply identifiers. The build scanner validates and registers all three, and ClientCommandHandler includes the reply command.
Reply command routing
module/src/bridge.rs, crates/lyracore-test-support/src/lib.rs, gateway/src/codec/addon.rs, gateway/src/world/framing_tests.rs
The bridge uses the installed handler's reply command for parser errors and completed outcomes. Updated tests use example.order and example.order.result.

Fixture reducer renaming

Layer / File(s) Summary
Reducer binding names and mappings
gateway/src/stdb/bindings/mod.rs, gateway/src/stdb/bindings/party_command_fixture_*_reducer.rs
The reducer exports, argument types, variants, mappings, serialization arms, and generated APIs use party_command_fixture_* names.
Fixture reducer call sites
module/src/actor.rs, module/src/bridge.rs, gateway/src/stdb/subscriptions.rs
The actor export and debug fixture calls use the renamed reducers. Bot-invite log messages no longer use the playerbots: prefix.

Code review: 418c8b1

Two separate checks. Standards compares the diff with CODING_STANDARDS.md, AGENTS.md, CONTEXT.md and a baseline list of code smells. Spec compares it with the PR description, because no issue is linked. I read the diff only. I did not build it or run the tests.

Standards

No hard violations. No correctness bugs in the code written by hand (build.rs, bridge.rs, lib.rs, actor.rs).

  • Medium (worth a check): bridge.rs finish_party_command_intent now sends no reply when GAME_CLIENT_COMMAND is None. Before this change it always sent one. The reason is sound: with no Package there is no reply name and no addon to read it. But no test covers that branch.
  • Low: docs/package-api.md:41 gives the new REPLY argument but does not say that it must be a &'static str const re-exported from the Package facade. build.rs (check_facade_reexport) enforces this, so a Package author who reads only the doc finds out when the build fails. (CODING_STANDARDS: "Update or remove nearby comments and docs when behavior changes.")
  • Low, possible Mysterious Name: dispatch builds the tuple parsed = (handler, parsed), and the closure argument parsed shadows the outer name. The tuple exists only to get handler into the Err arm. If you bind let handler = crate::GAME_CLIENT_COMMAND; first, you need neither the tuple nor the Some((_, Ok(..))) pattern.
  • Low, possible Repeated Switches: dispatch and finish_party_command_intent both read GAME_CLIENT_COMMAND and then .reply. A small reply_command() -> Option<&'static str> would keep the "no Package installed" rule in one place. Optional.
  • Low, possible Duplicated Code: build.rs calls check_facade_reexport three times in a row (parse, apply, reply), each with the same format!("{prefix}::{x}"). A loop over the three names would be shorter.
  • Good: the ident_before closure in try_match_client_command removes the repeated identifier scans.

Spec

The change does what the description says. The generated binding changes are only the reducer renames plus the line reflow that rustfmt makes after a rename. Nothing in non-generated code still uses the old playerbots_fixture_command_* names.

  • Medium, unannounced behaviour change: the no-Package no-reply change in finish_party_command_intent (see Standards) is not in the PR description. Please add one line about it.
  • Low: "I updated the doc": the update is the single table row. The const and facade re-export rules are missing, as noted above.
  • Low: build.rs has no test that a marker with only two arguments gives the clear "expected game_client_command!(PARSE, APPLY, REPLY)" panic. The tests check only that try_match_client_command returns None.
  • Low, leftovers that can stay: "playerbots" still appears in comments and tests: group.rs:274,320,1358, trainer.rs:148, actor.rs:3,168, hooks.rs:72, tripwires.rs:1200, test_scan.rs:301, package_config.rs:184, party_tests.rs:1474. docs/research/playerbots-client-acceptance.md:72 shows playerbots.order.result, which is still the Package's actual reply name. No Core code path or string uses the name now, so these can wait for a separate cleanup.

Summary: Standards: 5 findings, worst is the untested no-Package reply branch (medium). Spec: 4 findings, worst is that the PR description does not mention the no-reply behaviour change (medium). I found nothing that blocks a merge.

Comment thread module/src/bridge.rs
Core sent every Companion Order outcome under a hard-coded Package
command name. The game_client_command! marker now takes a third
argument, a const that names the reply command, and Core sends outcomes
under that name. The seven command fixture reducers become
party_command_fixture_*, the Gateway bindings are regenerated, and the
group intent log lines drop their Package prefix.
