fix(playerbots): keep bounded recovery reads from hiding learned spells - #486
Conversation
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe changes add a composite spellbook index and use it for membership operations. They also document Recovery Scan and add runner coverage for paging, revalidation, health comparisons, fixture isolation, navigation edges, and missing results. ChangesSpellbook and recovery scan
Priority: ⬇️ Low — Defer this change because it is a narrow playerbot recovery-read fix with indexed spell lookups and regression tests, without supplied evidence of broader product impact. Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to Recovery-scan coverage is expanded, but the navigation-edge regression does not verify that navigation was actually cleared. This leaves a bounded test-coverage gap for the fixture behavior. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 4 | ❌ 1❌ Failed checks (1 warning)

Source review is clear for core The independent standards review checked the core spell lookup, Recovery Scan glossary and row lifetime, explicit rotation identifiers, and separated regressions. No findings remain. The independent specification review checked bounded scanning, retained-result validity, and foreground behavior. Its completed-negative rescan finding is fixed: a conclusive missing result permits useful work during later scans, and a later learned spell becomes eligible. The new regression checks both outcomes. The reviewers covered Package Default generation matched all 1,000 Gateway binding files, and the unchanged production core source passed 1,523 Module library tests. The full Package run and paired CI are still in progress; these source reviews do not claim their results. Standards review used GPT-5.6 Sol; specification and orchestrator reviews used GPT-6 Astra in Codex. |

query the fixture’s navigation state after each call and assert that it is
cleared, including at both grid edges. Keep the existing clear-navigation
invocation while verifying the resulting state rather than only its successful

A bounded bot read can miss a learned heal when earlier spellbook rows fill its limit. Add an exact Character-and-spell lookup and use it for membership, learning, and forgetting.
The paired playerbots change advances through healing rotations in bounded batches. Its durable regressions cover a late known heal, changed eligibility, large health values, and a completed missing result that permits movement during rescans. Separate cases cover fixture due times and navigation grid edges. Package PR: LyraCoreProject/packages#26.
Default Module library checks passed 1,523 tests. Pinned SpacetimeDB 2.7.1 generation matched all 1,000 Gateway binding files; this non-unique index produces no binding diff. Formatting passed. The clean paired correction passed 1,631 union library tests, 1,632 with debug reducers, all 37 real action and runner cases, two personality cases, and five core consent cases, including a populated preceding-Wasm upgrade. Paired Package CI is green. Final core CI also passed at 4f45007, including the full durable suite and default Gateway binding parity. Core #486 merged as e6a755d. The saved local Wasm SHA256 is c44a91ee92bb22ebce3de07e39caf9d7028794460a855c3b1d1f9329e473a2ae; runtime inputs record core a4b5518 and Package dba96bb. Independent Spec and Standards reviews are clear.
The final grid cleanup assertion also passed its focused durable run at core 4f45007 and unchanged Package dba96bb. It proves all nearby chunks are removed at both grid edges while a distant chunk survives. Both independent reviews cleared this test-only delta, and CodeRabbit marked its finding addressed.
The index preserves existing spell rows. Schema shipping remains subject to the repository's human review rule. No production realm was accessed.
Implemented and reviewed with GPT-6 Astra and GPT-5.6 Sol in Codex.
