99+ Agent Icons

Too many agents. Not enough icons.

An open, source-linked visual atlas of AI agent product icons. The current snapshot contains 102 active products, normalized into 99 unique icon cards, with 12 visual families and a reproducible research trail. Agent Icon Atlas remains the descriptive title of the web edition; 99+ Agent Icons is the open-source project name.

简体中文

Why 99+?

99+ is the familiar overflow badge: the count has become too large to display, while the visual vocabulary for AI agents feels increasingly crowded. It is a permanent project mark, not a claim that the dataset stops at 99.

The website opens with a Top 10 and defaults to a source-aware public-scale order. It also offers:

  • Comparable public reach — the first scale group ranks only products measured with the same public method and period. Other disclosed metrics stay separated by scope instead of becoming a fictional total leaderboard.
  • Visual similarity — a manual browsing view based on silhouette, negative space, and composition. It is not a trademark opinion or a plagiarism claim.
  • Function groups — assistants, research, coding, workflow, enterprise, service, voice, and vertical agents.

What is included

  • A zero-build static website with responsive desktop and mobile layouts.
  • 99 locally stored visual assets, linked to 102 product records with per-item sources.
  • Search, A–Z / scale / similarity / function views, and family filters.
  • Per-asset PNG copy, original-file download, and source inspection.
  • Two-icon comparison with shareable URL state.
  • Progressive loading, reduced-motion support, and pointer interactions.
  • Chinese root plus a complete English /en/ edition, with explicit language links.
  • Search-ready static icon and visual-family pages, a sitemap, robots rules, social metadata, and structured data.
  • A progressive WebMCP bridge for in-browser agents when the browser supports it.
  • Public JSON data, candidate research, visual classifications, collection reports, data synchronization and validation scripts, design references, and QA notes.

Web, search, and agent integration

The Chinese site lives at /; the English edition is /en/. Each unique visual asset also has a static, source-linked page at /icons/<id>/ and /en/icons/<id>/; each visual family has the matching /families/<id>/ route. Regenerate those pages and their SEO infrastructure after catalog changes:

npm run build:seo
npm run validate:seo

This produces sitemap.xml, robots.txt, site.webmanifest, the icon/family pages, and a lightweight 404.html; validate:seo checks every generated canonical, language alternate, structured-data marker, and sitemap URL.

webmcp.js is a progressive enhancement for browser-resident agents. When the browser exposes document.modelContext, it registers two public, read-only tools:

  • search_agent_icons — updates the visible wall and returns up to six concise source-linked records.
  • open_agent_icon_detail — navigates to a visible static reference page.

It deliberately does not expose downloads, clipboard access, or external writes. WebMCP is currently experimental in Chrome and requires the Chrome origin-trial configuration for https://99plusicons.xin before visitors can use it in production; the website stays fully functional in every unsupported browser.

Brand assets

Shareable project identity files live in assets/brand/: canonical SVG marks, light/dark variants, horizontal lockups, a favicon, and 512px/1024px app icons. A clean downloadable bundle is also available as Agent-Icon-Atlas-brand-assets.zip. Those files are original project graphics under the repository license; the product icons under assets/icons/ remain third-party marks under the rights boundary below.

Let an agent query the atlas

The repository includes a portable agent-icon-atlas Skill. It follows the open Agent Skills directory format, so a skills-compatible agent can install or inspect the folder directly.

The Skill reads the same source-linked catalog rather than scraping the visual wall. In a repository clone, query it with:

npm run query:icons -- --q "two eyes"
npm run query:icons -- --family spark --format json
npm run query:icons -- --function coding --limit 12

The default output is unique icon cards, not duplicate product rows. It can point an agent to the official source page and repository asset path, while preserving icon_scope and captured_at. The Skill does not grant reuse rights to third-party marks, make automatic network requests, or provide legal similarity opinions. Run npm run validate:skill before packaging it for a Skill registry.

Data model

The primary dataset is data/agents.json. Important fields include:

  • id, name, company, url
  • active_evidence_url
  • function_group
  • visual_family, visual_tags
  • icon, icon_source_url, icon_asset_url
  • icon_group when multiple products intentionally share one visual asset
  • icon_source_type, icon_source_label, icon_scope
  • market_scale when a traceable public figure is available
  • public_reach when a shared-method, comparable public audience measure is available
  • featured for the opening Top 10
  • captured_at, notes

This is a timestamped editorial dataset, not an exhaustive directory or commercial market ranking. See METHODOLOGY.md and data/README.md.

Icon quality and deduplication

The wall is organized around unique visual assets, not one tile per product record. When two products share the same verified icon, the wall shows it once with a small +N indicator; search still matches every associated product.

The project never upscales a tiny favicon and calls it high resolution. The target source order is SVG, then a 512px-or-larger official raster, then a clearly documented fallback. Run the following report while contributing a replacement:

npm run audit:icons

legacy entries in that report are known small-source candidates awaiting a better public official asset. --strict makes the command fail if any remain.

Contributing

Corrections, clearer official assets, missing products, and classification discussions are welcome. Please read CONTRIBUTING.md before opening an issue or pull request. Every proposed product or visual replacement needs a public source and a check date.

Licensing and trademarks
