Synced panes showed competing native scrollbars, while their separate visibility handles split one divider interaction across two locations. In source-only mode, constraining the textarea also pulled its scrollbar inward beside the text column, and the empty divider line remained visible after a pane was hidden.
This keeps the native scrollbar only on the visual right pane during synced side-by-side scrolling and keeps the source-only scrollbar flush with the pane edge without widening the text column. It combines both pane visibility actions into one centered bidirectional handle that adapts from left/right controls to up/down controls in a stacked layout. When either pane is hidden, the divider line disappears and only the centered restore handle remains. End-to-end coverage verifies placement, orientation, hiding, restoration, the single-pane scroll edge, and collapsed divider styling.
