Implement Comprehensive Automated Testing #71

Description

@viperman1271

Description

The application lacks comprehensive automated testing, which is essential for ensuring code quality, preventing regressions, and facilitating safe refactoring. While there are some tests in the codebase, coverage is limited and there's no systematic approach to testing.

Current Issues

  • Limited unit test coverage
  • No integration tests
  • No end-to-end tests
  • No performance tests
  • No security tests
  • No load tests
  • No test coverage reporting
  • No continuous integration for tests

Impact on Production Readiness

Without comprehensive automated testing:

  • Regressions can be introduced without detection
  • Code quality is difficult to maintain
  • Refactoring becomes risky
  • Performance issues may go undetected
  • Security vulnerabilities may be introduced
  • Deployment confidence is reduced

Suggested Solution

  • Implement comprehensive unit tests for all components
  • Add integration tests for component interactions
  • Implement end-to-end tests for critical user flows
  • Add performance tests for key operations
  • Implement security tests (SAST, DAST)
  • Add load tests for scalability verification
  • Set up test coverage reporting
  • Integrate tests into CI/CD pipeline
  • Establish minimum test coverage requirements
  • Document testing strategy and approach
  • Add test documentation for each component
  • Implement test data generation utilities
  • Add mocking frameworks for external dependencies
