Galaxy Classification • Machine Learning • Astrostatistics • Interstellar Medium
I am a graduate student in Astronomy and Space Sciences at Erciyes University. My research focuses on the morphological and activity based classification of galaxies. In particular, I work on identifying elliptical and spiral galaxies, as well as star forming galaxies, Starburst systems, Seyfert AGN, and LINERs using machine learning, astrostatistics, and large scale photometric data analysis.
In this context, I develop scalable and open source Python modules that can classify galaxies without relying on spectroscopy.
I actively contribute to scientific work within the LSST Galaxy Science Collaboration and the LSST AGN Science Collaboration.
In addition, I work with M33 galaxy and MUSE observational data to deepen my expertise in the interstellar medium (ISM) and to better understand its physical properties.
- Galaxy Classification: Morphology, star formation activity, Starburst galaxies, and AGN
- Machine Learning in Astronomy: Classification algorithms and open source Python module development
- Astrostatistics: Statistical modeling, large scale data analysis, and model evaluation
- Interstellar Medium (ISM): M33, MUSE observations, and the physics of ionized gas
- Large Astronomical Surveys: SDSS, LSST, and multi band photometric datasets
- Scientific Computing: Python based data analysis, visualization, and reproducible research
