[Enhancement] Add support to fetch search results from search engines like youtube, google #413
Which feature do you want to improve?
The search using search engines feature. Specifically when a search engine keyword is already mentioned like ggl or yt.
Why would this improvement be useful?
It makes the search more robust. Saves time by opening the result rather than needing to manually navigate to it. Makes the app more complete - it renders the data without having to step out of the app.
Thanks for the detailed suggestion and the reference repo. I've thought about it, and I'm not going to implement this for now.
The main engines don't have usable APIs. Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo don't offer free public search APIs, so the most common keywords like ggl couldn't show inline results without scraping. Scraping breaks often and goes against their terms.
Each provider is ongoing maintenance. Every API has its own changes, rate limits and key handling. That would mean a growing list of integrations to keep working, mostly for niche sites.
The search suggestions already cover part of this, and opening the engine directly is still just one tap. I appreciate the idea though, and I may come back to it if a simpler approach shows up.
