0.2.190

There is now a single config for enabling 64-bit time_t: libc_unstable_time64. This can be set unconditionally; it opts in to 64-bit time_t on the following platforms that use 32-bit by default:

  • 32-bit Linux-GNU
  • 32-bit Linux-uClibc
  • 32-bit Linux-musl. Note that setting this flag also enables some other changes that happend in musl v1.2.
  • 32-bit Windows-GNU
  • ESP-IDF (all targets with this environment are 32-bit)

Most other 32-bit platforms are either already using 64-bit time_t, or are considered legacy and will not be gaining support from their upstream maintainers.

You can enable this using RUSTFLAGS:

RUSTFLAGS='--cfg=libc_unstable_time64' cargo ...

Note that there may still be some changes to features gated by this config option, hence "unstable"

Updates regex from 1.12.3 to 1.13.1

Changelog

Sourced from regex's changelog.

1.13.1 (2026-07-15)

This is a release that fixes a bug where incorrect regex match offsets could be reported. Note that this doesn't impact whether a match occurs or not, just where it occurs. The match offsets are still valid for slicing, they just may not refer to the correct leftmost-first match. See #1364 for (many) more details.

Bug fixes:

  • #1354: Fixes previously unsound reverse suffix and inner optimizations.

1.13.0 (2026-07-09)

This release includes a new API, a regex! macro, for lazy compilation of a regex from a string literal. If you use regexes a lot, it's likely you've already written one exactly like it. The new macro can be used like this:

use regex::regex;
fn is_match(line: &str) -> bool {
// The regex will be compiled approximately once and reused automatically.
// This avoids the footgun of using Regex::new here, which would
// guarantee that it would be compiled every time this routine is called.
// This would likely make this routine much slower than it needs to be.
regex!(r"bar|baz").is_match(line)
}
let hay = "
path/to/foo:54:Blue Harvest
path/to/bar:90:Something, Something, Something, Dark Side
path/to/baz:3:It's a Trap!
";
let matches = hay.lines().filter(|line| is_match(line)).count();
assert_eq!(matches, 2);

Improvements:

  • #709: Add a new regex! macro for efficient and automatic reuse of a compiled regex.

1.12.4 (2026-06-09)

This release includes a performance optimization for compilation of regexes

Updates pocketstation from 1.1.10 to 1.1.14

Release notes

PocketStation 1.1.14 adds opt-in native startup observations and retains uncertain cleanup ownership.

SessionStartCancellation::observed() exposes up to 64 current native opens and the first 128 completed calls. Clones share cancellation and observations. Records contain operation tags, monotonic times and native status values; default tokens allocate no observation state.

Cancellation is checked between native operations, including after late registration returns. SessionStartError::rollback_failures_total() preserves cleanup failures alongside the primary error. These changes add diagnostics and ownership safeguards; they do not interrupt a pending operating-system call or promise a startup deadline.

Publication and recovery validate the exact selected tag in every job. AEC remains optional and excluded from default builds.

Source: a854e63. Linux, macOS and Windows main checks passed. The exact main archive and one isolated default consumer passed, including public observation/cancellation checks and AEC absence. The crates.io publication follows the protected release workflow.

PocketStation 1.1.13

Capture once and extract recent, source-aware audio context while recording and other destinations continue. Session::audio_history retains explicitly routed stems with shared defaults of 30 seconds, 16 MiB PCM and 4096 buffers. AudioHistory::read_clip and RecordedAudio::read_clip return original-channel WAV samples with exact source, session, stem, clock and sample provenance; gaps, expiry, pending context and failures have explicit outcomes. Recognition and wake-word models remain application-owned.

Portable AEC is explicitly enabled with the aec feature; default capture builds omit its engine. Reference selection and processing admission are explicit, and known repeated processing is rejected. Native Windows requests require an active effect on the opened capture client. Native macOS/Linux AEC routes are unavailable; physical double-talk, acoustic quality and route-change qualification remain in progress.

Linux component/documentation tests, CODE_PROTOCOL/hot-path checks, strict Clippy, quickstart and package validation passed. macOS and Windows compile/link CI also passed. The installed Python/Node Lab proof uses controlled PCM and is LOOPBACK-ONLY: independent stereo stems, concurrent recording/history, exact WAV/provenance, expiry/cancellation and zero recorder drops. It makes no physical or endurance claim. The publisher reruns the release checks before registry upload.

No additional package, repository or fork is part of this release.

PocketStation 1.1.12

macOS microphone capture now keeps timestamps continuous when native packets differ from the Session frame size. The first frame stays anchored to capture time, and explicit capture gaps remain observable.

This repairs a 1.1.11 regression without changing public APIs, queue capacities, dependencies or realtime callback operations. Tests cover 10 ms and 20 ms framing plus reset behavior. Four physical capture cases delivered 2,700 observed frames with zero discontinuities or losses.

Install with cargo add pocketstation@1.1.12. Python and JavaScript packages must embed this Core version to receive the fix; their releases are separate.

Physical evidence covers the tested Mac and built-in microphone. This release makes no new HFP, Teams, WAN, endurance or 10 ms latency claim.

PocketStation 1.1.11

Observe whether a microphone is usable

Starting a Session and opening a device no longer have to stand in for media readiness. Each built-in Source now exposes three separate facts through RunningSession::metrics_snapshot:

  • source_native_format reports the sample rate, channel count, and PCM representation actually opened by the native backend;
  • source_activity reports first-frame and latest-frame delivery; and
  • source_signal reports exact-zero, nonzero, non-finite, peak, and RMS measurements for the latest canonical PCM frame.

SessionSourceActivityPolicy distinguishes a Source awaiting its first frame, an active Source, a first-frame timeout, and a later stall. A caller-supplied SessionSourceSignalPolicy separately distinguishes no samples, pending or sustained exact digital zero, signal below the caller's numeric thresholds,

1.1.14 — 2026-10-11

Observe native startup and retain uncertain cleanup

SessionStartCancellation::observed() opts into native startup observations. Cloned tokens expose up to 64 independent current opens and the first 128 completed calls, with explicit busy, omission and truncation counters. Static operation tags distinguish discovery, property access, acquisition, registration, start and rollback. Records contain ordinals, monotonic times and optional native statuses; they do not contain audio, source identifiers or callback logs. Default tokens retain their existing behavior and allocate no observation state.

Cancellation is checked between synchronous native operations, including after late registration returns. It prevents later acquisition, start, reader creation and stem preparation once observed. It does not preempt a pending operating-system call or promise a startup deadline. Current macOS diagnosis has observed blocked registration and unregister calls; useful audio and latency qualification remain separate.

The public SessionStartError::rollback_failures_total() preserves reported cleanup failures alongside the primary error and cancellation classification. An uncertain native cleanup retains callback context and its ownership lease, without a second cleanup attempt from Drop. A process-wide 64-owner budget preserves concurrent captures; uncertainty blocks future native tap admissions. No automatic process or operating-system restart is implemented. A zero reported rollback count alone does not establish physical device release.

Release publication and recovery now check out and validate the exact selected tag in every job. The main workflow controller remains separately bound for manual recovery. Registry visibility queries have fixed time and byte limits, reject redirects and unexpected statuses, and never republish a visible version. An existing version's visibility is separate from archive checksum verification.

1.1.13 — 2026-10-06

Retain and extract source-aware audio context

Session::audio_history retains only explicitly routed stems through the existing Endpoint runtime. Defaults are 30 seconds, 16 MiB of PCM and 4,096 buffers shared across stems; the first reached limit evicts older audio. retain_audio declares the route. AudioHistory::read_clip returns original channel samples, exact sample bounds and source/session/stem/clock provenance. Pending post-context, expired pre-context, gaps and worker failures have typed errors. Stop preserves audio within those limits; cancellation purges it. No detector, implicit microphone capture or source mixing is introduced.

RecordedAudio::read_clip extracts the same source-aware context from finalized Session recordings, verifies the selected WAV and includes intersecting discontinuities. External detector intervals use RecordingClipWindow; Core owns time/sample mapping and audio extraction. Python and Node project these
