What happened?

If i switch on the bathroom exhaust fan, HI switches it off immediately. Maybe if H is higher outside the bathroom, but i dont think it was so the last 3 days .
Dont prevent the User from manually switching it on if needed..

@Dorikumi Thanks for reporting this. Wanting to run the bathroom extractor manually for a few minutes is a reasonable use case.
HI currently returns configured outputs to their idle behaviour when no automatic ventilation response is selected. For an extractor exposed as a switch, that can mean switching it off again. I’ve also found a possible issue in how Manual lock handles output resets, so I’m checking that alongside your report.
Could you confirm your HI version, whether the extractor appears as a fan or switch, which integration provides it, and whether you activate it using a physical switch or Home Assistant? The Current Air Control reason around the shutdown would also help.

You mentioned that Manual LOCKED lets the fan stay on. Does it remain on through subsequent sensor updates? That would help narrow down the difference.

The fan is added as switch. There is also a (not added, set to off) generic humidifier using it.
bath H is 58, other rooms 53-57.

Thanks @Dorikumi , that helps. Just to confirm: the extractor is configured in HI as a switch, while the Generic Humidifier is not configured in HI and is currently off?
HI is currently designed to return an inactive switch output to off whenever no ventilation lane is selected. That persistent control explains the behaviour you’re seeing, but it may be too aggressive when someone manually turns on an extractor for a few minutes.

Could you still confirm:

• your installed HI version;
• whether you turn the extractor on physically or through Home Assistant;
• the Current Air Control mode and reason immediately after it switches off?

For one clean test, please temporarily disable both the Generic Humidifier and your fan automation—not merely turn them off. This will confirm whether HI is the only system sending the off command.
I’m also checking Manual LOCKED separately. It should allow HI to stand down without continuing to reset normal outputs, while CO emergency control remains the intentional safety exception.

Thanks again for the additional context. Maintainer triage is now complete, and this issue is moving into a final response window rather than being closed immediately.

The current evidence indicates that HI's persistent ownership of a configured switch output can return the extractor to off when no automatic ventilation lane is selected. The separate Manual LOCKED behaviour remains a possible issue, but the requested clean-test evidence has not yet been provided, so this is not being marked as confirmed fixed or resolved.

This issue will remain open until 21 September 2026, or until the next Humidity Intelligence release, whichever comes first. If you can provide the requested HI version, activation method, Current Air Control mode/reason, or the result of the clean test before then, please add it here and the closure-pending status will be reconsidered.

No further action is required if you are content with the explanation and current workaround.

Bella triage update

I’ve reviewed your report and confirmed a bug in Manual LOCKED.

We are addressing this in v2.0.12-beta.3. The fix will ensure that, while Manual LOCKED is active, HI leaves configured fans and switches in their current state and does not send automatic on, off, percentage or preset commands. Pending automatic tasks will also be stopped so they cannot change the outputs later.

CO emergency will remain the safety exception and can still override Manual LOCKED when required.

The separate behaviour you reported—HI returning an inactive switch to off while AUTO remains active—is currently intentional. Although it can be inconvenient when you want to run an extractor manually for a few minutes, it will not be changed as part of this bug fix.

You are welcome to raise temporary manual operation while remaining in AUTO as a community proposal. If it receives enough community support and can be added without weakening HI’s deterministic control, we can consider it as a future enhancement.

The Manual LOCKED fix will move from beta.3 into the v2.0.12 release candidate. Once the validated fix reaches main, this issue will move into pre-closure pending confirmation.

Thanks again, @Dorikumi. I agree with Bella’s triage. The Manual LOCKED bug is a genuine release blocker, and we’ll address it in v2.0.12-beta.3. The current AUTO output behaviour will remain unchanged for now.

Please feel free to open a separate community proposal for temporary manual operation while AUTO remains active. That will give us the right place to assess its wider community value and gather feedback from other users.
