Numpy now returns complex numbers with 0 imaginary parts. Take real part to avoid problem. I'm not worried about speed here because this is only done once at the beginning of the simulation.
We're getting 14 significant figures correct.

Scikit sparse made API changes in v0.5. This keeps optimism up to date and building/running correctly out of the box. Also fixed failures due to small difference in behavior of numpy: roots of Legendre polynomial derivatives (used for locating quadrature points) are now reported as complex numbers with null imaginary parts, instead of reals. I adapted the code to this.
