Adopt a PR-only workflow with CodeRabbit review - #1
Conversation
- main only accepts PRs now: a repository ruleset requires a pull request, squash or rebase merge, and every review thread resolved, with no bypass. AGENTS.md states the rule for agent sessions. - .coderabbit.yaml keeps reviews on real defects (correctness, security, privacy): style nits, poems and docstring generation are off, gitleaks and semgrep are on, swiftlint is off. Path instructions point the bot at the AGENTS.md invariants. - Squash merges take the PR title and body as the commit message, so PRs are written under the commit convention. - Parked in AGENTS.md until there are users, both from pingdotgg/ t3code: structured issue templates and the vouch workflow. - Around line 35-36: Update the Semgrep configuration by either adding a
supported Semgrep configuration file or removing semgrep.enabled from the
CodeRabbit configuration; do not leave semgrep.enabled: true without a
corresponding supported configuration.
- Around line 6-11: Add a root-scoped path_instructions entry in the
configuration so the defect-only filtering applies globally, explicitly
excluding style, formatting, naming, and documentation findings across all
paths; keep the existing tone_instructions and profile settings unchanged.
- Around line 37-38: Update the reviews.tools configuration in the CodeRabbit
settings to explicitly disable yamllint by adding its enabled flag set to false,
alongside the existing swiftlint setting.

The defect-only instruction now applies to every path instead of only Sources/, semgrep is dropped because it never runs without a repo-local rules file, and the style linters that default to on (yamllint, markdownlint, languagetool) are off to match the policy. high_level_summary writes "Summary by CodeRabbit" into the PR description, and the squash-merge dialog inherits the description as the commit body, so the release notes were landing in main's history. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Until now everything landed on main directly, which forfeits automated review entirely. This PR flips the repo to a PR-only flow: a ruleset on main (already active) requires a pull request, squash or rebase merge, and every review thread resolved before merging.
The changes here are the two files that flow needs: AGENTS.md documents the rule and the merge convention for anyone (or any agent) working in the repo, and
.coderabbit.yamlconfigures CodeRabbit to comment on real defects only (correctness, security, privacy; gitleaks on) and skip cosmetics, without writing its summary into the PR description.Verification is this PR itself: it is the first one through the pipeline, so the ruleset, the squash-title convention and the CodeRabbit config all get exercised live.
