Use CUDA as extensions? #59

Description

@scheidan

Very exciting package!

CUDA is quite a heavy dependency, that cannot be used on any machine. Could we use a package extension instead?

    Hi @scheidan, thank you, glad you like it!

    We definitely can make that happen and its on my roadmap. Out of curiosity, do you have plans to use the package? I'd call it very experimental at the moment and so any feedback you have would be great. As a note, the biggest speedups you will get will be on GPU for sure i.e., the space of models where one sees reliable speedups on CPU is real, but I'd call it very limited (why the code has CUDA as a hard dep rn). So, eventually I'd like ot make this package compatible with non nvidia GPUs

    also, i'm very actively working on this package, and as of now am focused mostly on the modeling interface / AD enhancements. So, I can't promise this will happen soon unless you wanted to make a PR for it :)

    Hi @scheidan see #68! But am curious, do you have a desire to use this on non-CUDA GPUs or is it more so you can try it out on CPU and the CUDA dep is big cost/annoying (i agree)?
