FaceID 5.2.0: commercial navigation and progressive expert UX

What changed

• replaces the disappearing three-workspace navigation with five stable product areas
• groups all 19 existing screens under task-oriented secondary navigation without removing capabilities
• adds deep links, in-app Back, breadcrumbs, recent screens, and last-screen restoration
• adds progressive expert disclosure for calibration, gallery, AI, engine and diagnostics
• simplifies Home and Events for everyday use and adds friendly failure/retry feedback
• adds a fixed, touch-friendly five-destination phone navigation
• bumps the Home Assistant add-on and ingress cache key to 5.2.0

Why

The existing interface exposed operational, investigative and engineering tools at the same level. Switching workspaces also made screens disappear, so both new and experienced users could lose their place. The new information architecture keeps navigation stable while preserving technical depth behind an optional expert layer.

Safety and rollback

• the recognition pipeline, API contracts and stored data were not rewritten
• backup branch: backup/ui-before-restructure-5.1.1
• existing v5.1.1 release remains available

Validation

• JavaScript syntax check passed
• python -m unittest discover -s tests: 52 passed, 1 skipped
• desktop browser QA: five areas, subnavigation, Back, recent screens, deep links and refresh persistence
• mobile QA at 390x844: no page overflow, fixed five-button navigation, 58px touch targets
• verified friendly retry screen replaces stale content when a screen API fails
