Suppress the final newline character when closing a progress bar?

To my understanding, a newline character is printed when a progress bar closes, so the finished progress bar stays on screen.

Is it possible to disable this? I will have a large number of tasks with progress bars. I would like to see whether I can reuse the same line in the console, without having a long list of closed progress bars.

I guess something like this can be done in some other packages. However, I prefer using lightweight packages, like pbapply, which works with parallel in base R.

One option would be to allow the use of a custom progress bar function (besides the standard ones in base R and the package). That way you can remove the newline that is being printed by the function responsible for ending the process.
