End-to-End CI/CD Pipeline for a Java Web Application
Hotstar-inspired UI • Pure Servlet + JSP • Automated from GitHub to Tomcat
A clean, production-like DevOps demonstration that automates the full lifecycle of a simple Java web app: code push → build → quality check → artifact storage → deployment → cloud backup.
| Component | Tool | Role / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Source Control | GitHub | Code hosting & webhook trigger |
| CI/CD Engine | Jenkins Pipeline | Orchestrates the full automated workflow |
| Build Tool | Maven | Executes clean package → generates .war |
| Code Quality | SonarQube | Static analysis, vulnerabilities & quality gate |
| Artifact Repository | Nexus | Stores versioned .war artifacts |
| Application Server | Apache Tomcat 9 | Hosts and runs the deployed web application |
| Cloud Storage | AWS S3 | Archives build artifacts, reports & logs |
All tools run on separate dedicated servers/EC2 instances for better isolation, scalability, and real-world simulation.
- Developer pushes code to GitHub
- GitHub webhook triggers Jenkins Pipeline job
- Maven executes
clean package→ generates.warfile - SonarQube performs code scan and enforces quality gate
- Successful build → .war uploaded to Nexus Repository
- Jenkins deploys the .war to Tomcat server
- Build artifacts, Sonar report, and logs backed up to AWS S3
