[Feature]: Add a command to close all open code files #6143
I searched existing issues and did not find a duplicate.
I included enough detail to reproduce or investigate the request.
Area
apps/web
Problem or use case
When I open multiple code files, they remain open as tabs/surfaces. I want a single action to close all currently open code files instead of closing each file individually.
Expected behavior
Add a clearly discoverable “Close all open files” action, available from the file tab UI and/or command palette. It should:
Close all open code-file tabs.
Leave unrelated surfaces such as chat, terminal, browser, or Git views unchanged.
Warn about unsaved edits before closing, or provide the existing unsaved-changes handling.
Preserve the project and thread state.
Smallest useful scope
Add a “Close all files” command to the file-tab context menu and command palette. If any open file has unsaved changes, use the platform’s normal confirmation flow.
Why this matters
Closing many files one at a time is repetitive and makes it harder to reset the workspace after reviewing a task.
