What changed

Prepare the Electron beta with compact usage cards, provider source choices, Codex cloud history and reset controls, saved provider ordering and hover-only notch details. Service status stays at the top. Settings groups connection setup under Configure and fits the active page.

The latest change removes the duplicate Settings gear from the side rail, keeps Settings in each expanded card, restores Send report under Diagnostics and labels Grok Beta. Report attempts are limited to once every 10 minutes, including failed attempts and app relaunches. Main reserves the private cooldown timestamp before HTTP and refuses to send if saving it fails. Settings shows the retry time, while Copy diagnostics remains available. Reports contain a main-generated status summary with the running app version. They exclude raw logs, account labels/IDs, paths, credentials and chat content.

Before and after

Before After
The menu stacked every usage card below a growing overview. Compact provider/account tabs select one card in saved order; secondary activity and burn details expand on demand.
Short Settings categories left a large empty window. Settings fits its active content and scrolls within the display when necessary.
The rail had pacing chips and a duplicate Settings gear. One 36 px rail shows provider-mark usage rings and percentages. Expanded cards retain Settings.
Diagnostic reporting was absent from Electron. Explicit Send report shows progress, a verified support reference or safe retry feedback.
Grok appeared without an experimental label. Grok shows Beta in usage, notch/shared cards, connection setup and provider settings.
Heatmaps reserved empty readout space and every date was a Tab stop. Readouts use their natural height. A grid has one Tab entry, arrow navigation and Home/End.

Native before/after screenshots are unavailable because screen-capture permission was denied. Synthetic browser captures cover the Settings, rail and usage layouts; they do not establish native visual acceptance.

Verification

  • The final source at 6ce6953 passed 417 TypeScript tests across 19 files and TypeScript validation. All 247 archived build-source files match this commit. The final source patch received Controller Ponytail review; earlier compact-card work had independent review. A fresh independent review of the complete branch remains pending.
  • Tests exercise report request/receipt validation, byte limits, response cancellation, fixed errors, redaction, retry identity, concurrent clicks, renderer states, strict IPC and mocked Electron dispatch. Cooldown tests cover repeated clicks, exact expiry, native date persistence/reload, failed writes and denial of renderer attempts to reset the private timestamp. No live diagnostic report was submitted. An endpoint GET returned 405, establishing reachability only.
  • Synthetic browser checks verify absent strip gear, retained card Settings, report progress/reference/error feedback, matching compact button heights and no horizontal overflow. A fresh renderer load shows Grok Beta. Different-height Codex and Claude cards keep the strip at x=0, y=0, width=36 and both card tops at y=0.
  • macOS production compilation and packaging passed for version 0.3.0-beta.1 build 54. The 85 Swift inputs are unchanged from the prior passing macOS Swift build and all 394 Swift tests.
  • Build 54 passed Developer ID signing, Apple notarization, stapling and Gatekeeper checks. The extracted ZIP was verified separately. Installation and launch succeeded; all 283 installed file/symlink entries match the notarized ZIP. The installed executable is running. Saved preferences, including Small, were preserved; only the updater last-check timestamp changed later.

Risks or follow-up

Keep this draft unmerged. Native visual, keyboard, VoiceOver, complete account/offline journeys, notifications, login items, sharing, updater/rollback and multi-display acceptance remain incomplete. Live delivery to Linear has not been tested by this change. The legacy relay configuration has per-IP and total rate limits, but current deployed limits were not reverified. The local cooldown protects against repeated app sends and does not replace server enforcement.

Official-source desktop-login research is documented separately. Grok/Cursor subscription sharing does not establish a supported third-party desktop quota API. Antigravity documents shared local sign-in, while MeterUsage still uses its existing container reader. OpenCode Go still documents API-key setup. No new provider authentication was implemented. Claude allowance depends on the account and provider compatibility. Swift remains the stable download and rollback route. This PR does not publish the public beta.

Model(s): gpt-6.1-sol for this update and its Controller review; earlier preview preparation also used gpt-6-astra.

Harness: Codex through T3 Code.

This Electron beta/UI head is an ancestor of the reviewed integration merged through #76 (0d514dd). Its source is retained on main. Closing the superseded stack layer; branch retained.
