Paris Moschovakos builds and operates safety-critical distributed control systems at extreme scale — for eleven years the ATLAS experiment at CERN, where he leads detector controls — and is a member of the ISO C++ Standardization Committee (WG21), representing the safety-systems practitioner's voice. His estate is hundreds of servers and thousands of industrial I/O endpoints running hardware safety interlocks around the clock. He is the lead developer of quasar, the open-source framework behind 70+ C++ OPC UA server projects, and shipped the first production deployment of C++26 Contracts in a live safety-critical system. He writes and speaks about what extreme-scale operations teach about building systems that actually work.
