ONT-4c4: kernel symbols as focus nodes — extract:kernel over extract:code (ont:KernelSymbol ⊑ ont:Symbol, v4.15) #4069
Aprender-side row of the ontology spec, which the operator requires finished in 0.70: "the ontology spec MUST be finished in .7" (verbatim, relayed by the cop aprender-cf).
Row (paiml/infra docs/specifications/paiml-ontology.md:577), verbatim:ONT-4c4aprender · "ONT-4c4 (was ONT-4c3 in v4.8, renamed in v4.10 — content unchanged): kernel receipts as focus nodes — extract:kernel over extract:code (ont:Kernel ⊂ ont:Symbol), resolves: receipt over the tracked kernel receipts (apr-kernel-receipt/v1); shapes kernel-parity, kernel-timing, kernel-safety, computed and reported, armed by the 0.68.3 rail" · depends_on ONT-4c1, ONT-4b2 · K̂ 90 [U] · R-24 path · aprender #3522 (OXIDE-001), a 0.68.3 requirement (§0.4, third ruling)
Row-level ticket; the umbrella rows are #3269 (ONT-001: aprender owns the untriaged rows) and #3559. Filed from infra-83's measured baseline of UNBOUND aprender rows.
extract::all materializes the rdf:type closure (R-19). On the tracked corpus, 835 nodes are ont:Kernel and all of them are also ont:Contract.
ONT-4c4 plans to type cuda-oxide #[kernel]symbols as ont:Kernel ⊂ ont:Symbol. With the ONT-4d Σ, adding that edge would:
give Kernel two supers, Contract and Symbol;
through the materialized closure, type all 835 kernel contracts as ont:Symbol and ont:Code;
make every Symbol/Code shape fire on contracts.
The OWL export would then entail Kernel ⊑ Code for contracts. That is an unintended subsumption, so it would appear in the told-closure and ELK unintended sets.
Suggestion: give the ONT-4c4 concept a distinct name, e.g. ont:KernelSymbol with subsumes: {sub: KernelSymbol, sup: Symbol}, plus a role linking it to its ont:Kernel contract if needed. ont:Kernel stays the contract sense.
This is not decided here. It is flagged by the ONT-4d author (aprender session 19), at cop aprender-cf's request.
Re-synced to spec v4.15/v4.16. The kernel symbol is ont:KernelSymbol (Σ subsumes {sub: KernelSymbol, sup: Symbol}), never ont:Kernel, which Σ defines as a kernel-kind contract. The probe asserts that no subject is typed both Symbol and Contract.
Blocked, measured 2026-09-24:scripts/ont/precondition-lint.sh → BLOCKED-EXTERNAL ONT-4c4 evidence/kernels/gated_rmsnorm/lambda.json <- paiml/aprender#3522 O-1. origin/main has no evidence/kernels/, and no workspace #[kernel] fn (the cuda-oxide kernels are under experiments/, outside the workspace). This row starts when O-1 lands.
Folded into #5308 as a checklist row (TRIAGE-100, 2026-10-14): the open-ticket cap is 100, so this ticket is now tracked on that master and closed as not planned. Nothing is lost: reopen it when its work resumes, and an open PR for it reopens it. Pushed branch: c1/4069-ont-4c4-fresh, c1/4069-ont-4c4-on-4502.

Row moved: #5308 was split into named masters (TRIAGE-100 master naming), so this ticket's checklist row is now on #5335.
