cargo check -p apr-cli --features wgpu fails: finetune.rs imports entrenar's WgpuInstructPipeline / wgpu_training items that don't exist (5 errors) — a declared feature that cannot build #3779
Description
Reported by aprender-c3 (while doing #3742) and noted earlier in #3678's PR body. cargo check -p apr-cli --features wgpu fails with 5 errors: finetune.rs imports WgpuInstructPipeline / wgpu_training items from entrenar (aprender-train) that aren't there. It's independent of any in-flight row.
A feature listed in apr-cli's Cargo.toml that can't compile is the "declared, never built" class, and no gate builds --features wgpu, so it stays invisible.

cargo check -p apr-cli --features wgpurc 0, or the feature is removed/refused with acompile_error!naming why (the zram-core aprender-zram-core's cuda feature has never compiled: unresolved trueno_gpu imports in library code, dark since before v0.66.0 #3179 pattern). - A gate builds every declared apr-cli feature (derived from Cargo.toml, not a list), so the next broken feature is RED on the PR that breaks it.
0.70.0: not on the CUDA release path. Refs #3678

Carrying detail from #3995, which is being closed as a duplicate of this issue (operator 2026-09-23 via cf; #4024 triage). #3995 (aprender-3a, 2026-09-23) adds: the failure reproduces on base c4d8b28 (so it predates #3979); besides the 5 error sites in crates/apr-cli/src/commands/finetune.rs there are 5 more in crates/aprender-train/src/{autograd/mod.rs, finetune/wgpu_pipeline.rs}; the likely cause is apr-cli's
wgpufeature not enabling entrenar's wgpu feature (unverified); consequence: NO buildable binary contains build_wgpu_router, so the wgpu serve router (#3979) is unbuildable.noahgift commentedon Sep 23, 2026
Carrying one more item from #3995 (closed as a duplicate of this issue): once the wgpu feature builds, apply the #3979 route_index::Indexed conversion to build_wgpu_router too. #3995 named it as the follow-up, and it now lives nowhere else.
