I moved paiml/ai-ontology's worked examples into this repository and deleted
that repository. Both were wrong. ai-ontology is the ontology course's own code
repo; this is the AI Tooling specialization, a different course series. The
examples are restored to ai-ontology and removed from here.
Removed: examples/, deny.toml, scripts/check-examples.{sh,awk}, the examples
and supply-chain make targets, the Java 17 and cargo-deny CI steps, and the
Worked examples section of the README. None of it had a subject here once the
course code left.
Kept, because each fixes something that was wrong about THIS repository
independently of the course:
- LICENSE. This public repo had none, so everything in it was all rights
reserved by default.
- .github/required-status-checks.txt + scripts/check-required-contexts.sh.
`main` is protected by an org RULESET and the legacy branch-protection API
answers 404 for it, so the contexts could not be discovered over the wire.
The guard re-verifies the file against the live ruleset on every `make check`
and SKIPS out loud when it cannot reach the API.
- .pmat.yaml disabling cb-1700/cb-1701 with that measurement written down.
- The `gate` job doing the work rather than aggregating a job it `needs:`.
check: make check exit 0.

`make check` runs `make shell`, which REFUSES rather than skips when bashrs is
absent:
NOT RUN: bashrs is absent, so no shell script was linted.
make: *** [Makefile:57: shell] Error 1
That refusal is correct and is not what to soften — "found nothing" and "did not
look" are different answers. But removing the examples removed the step that
installed the tool, so the gate could not pass in CI at all. Restored, with the
cache key it had.
cargo-deny and Java 17 do NOT come back: deny.toml and Apache Jena left with the
examples and nothing in this repository has needed either since. bashrs still has
a subject — scripts/check-required-contexts.sh, which is itself one of the gates.
The lint loop's `examples/*/scripts/*.sh` arm also goes. It matches nothing now,
and a glob with no subject is how a loop quietly stops checking anything.
Verified both directions: `make check` exits 0, and `make shell` with bashrs off
PATH still fails (recipe exit 1, make exit 2).
