[Bug]: PDF viewer not working after Nextcloud update

Bug description

After updating to 34.0.3 the pdf viewer is displaying something that's uninteractable[

Steps to reproduce

1. Open pdf file
2. Getting the error as described

Thanks for your report.

That screen should be shown when editing an image annotation and setting an alternative text, but based on your description it seems to be shown as soon as you open the PDF file.

Could you do a force reload or check in a private browser session? Maybe some cached files from a previous version are interfering and that is causing that unexpected behaviour.

In any case I will transfer this issue to the PDF viewer repository.

I'm facing the same issue after upgrading to 34.0.3.
In a different browser and in a private browser session in Chrome it is working fine.
I already tried to delete the local website data and disabling all Chrome extensions. But I still can't open any PDF in a "regular" browser session. Any idea what else to try?

I can confirm the behaviour as described by @preachie and @lumintulogic-admin.

If I open an existing link of a share to a pdf, I only get the error as shown by @lumintulogic-admin, with no possibility to get rid of it.
If I open the very same link in a private window of the same browser or another browser (with which I have not yet tried to open the pdf), everything works fine and like it has before the update.

A force reload via Shift+F5 with the non-working browser instance does not help. I only get the error again. So I don't think it's cached files.

I saw the same on one machine, but it disappeared as soon as I tried to take a closer look in the dev tools (so it might still be cache related). One thing you could try is to logout of Nextcloud and login again - does it then work?

@SystemKeeper Thanks for your comment. No, for me it doesn't help to logout and login again. I even re-started my webserver in desperation ;) Additionally, I see the same problem with a newly uploaded PDF file, so I'm not sure if it could be cache related if it's also occur with newly uploaded files?

It's more about the cache of the pdfviewer app, than the PDF cache. Still very weird that this happens so reproducible and at the same time it works fine in private mode (which usually is an indication of a cache issue). Can you try opening a PDF with the dev tools opened and see if it a) works or b) shows something useful in the console?

Thanks for the information. @preachie As far as I can read you did not force the reload of the page in the browser. Can you do the following?

• Open the developer tools
• Switch to the Network tab
• Check Disable cache
• Reload the page (note that the Network tab of the developer tools must be open while the page is being reloaded)
• (Once the page was reloaded you might want to uncheck Disable cache again)

Does the issue persist or is it fixed after the reload with disabled cache?

@LM-vb Although you mentioned doing a force reload using Shift + F5, could you also perform the mentioned steps? If I am not mistaken Shift + F5 only works on some specific combinations of browser and operating system, so maybe the page was not force reloaded after all 🤔
