Always search in all panels #1064

Description

It seems that, currently, using the search only filters for tabs in the currently selected panel. However, if you get no results, then pressing enter will widen the search to the next panel in order which has a result.

I would like to be able to always search through all panels; perhaps prioritize tabs in the current panel at the top, then display those in other panels (maybe with an indicator of the panel they're in?).

I think that this would be awesome and very useful.
It could be a configuration to opt-in in the settings.

Came here to make the same request - this would be very useful to me. It looks like global search should be reasonably simple to implement; I might have time to take a crack at it in a couple months.

However, if you get no results, then pressing enter will widen the search to the next panel in order which has a result.

Wasn't aware of this - very helpful! This feature could be made more discoverable by adding a tip if a search returns nothing, like:

    Nothing found

Press Enter to search all panels

I also wanted to make the same request.

This would be a good workaround, but does not work for me on macOS:
However, if you get no results, then pressing enter will widen the search to the next panel in order which has a result.

Just made a PR #2461 for Global Search.
