I named it "Average Ph.D. student in his/her final year".
I am a Research Fellow in Computer Science at the University of Macerata, within the VRAI — Vision, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence laboratory, working on Deep Learning and eXtended Reality in a multidisciplinary setting. I got a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Bologna in 2024, focusing on pipelining Artificial Intelligence and eXtended Reality paradigms for industrial and cultural heritage applications. Before that, I got a Master's degree in Computer Science. Since July 2026 I hold the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) as Associate Professor in Information Processing Systems (IINF-05/A).
I decided to keep going with academic research because of my deep love for all that concerns multidisciplinary research, the data produced in this setting, and the knowledge that can be extracted from them. To me, recognizing patterns through Artificial Intelligence methods, and integrating them with eXtended Reality paradigms to define functional systems usable by anyone at any time, is one of the coolest things Computer Science can offer (and that completely conquered my heart).
I frame this line of work as eXtended Artificial Intelligence (XRAI): bringing computer vision, generative models and immersive interfaces together into systems that support human activity — across creative industries, cultural heritage, manufacturing, education, sport and retail.
