Two tests that failed CI on slow runners no longer depend on timing.

what changed

  • native_external_storage_on_restore_preserves_dirty_local_values failed on ubuntu after feat: replace the Tauri app with a native egui app #89 merged (run 39508599273): the note was typed before the restore frames, a slow runner finished its 120 ms debounced write first, and the mock answers writes with no fingerprint, so the store read as changed outside the app. The note is now typed once the manifest read is held by a 30 ms mock latency, and the test asserts the write is still owed at the begin_refresh boundary (native_regressions.rs).
  • the_pin_session_locks_unlocks_and_guards_the_settings_store failed on macOS in this PR's first run: the one second wait after a wrong PIN counts from the attempt start, and an unoptimized PBKDF2 took that second, so the retry unlocked. The wrong code now has the wrong length, which fails before PBKDF2 (real_backend.rs).

to question

The app code is unchanged. The real backend returns the fingerprint of every write, and core's unlock_at tests still cover the backoff after a full-length wrong PIN with explicit times.

verified

  • restore test with a 200 ms sleep after the edit: the old order failed (left: "external note"), the new one passes
  • cargo test -p accshift-egui --lib native_regressions: 8 passed, three runs out of three
  • cargo test -p accshift-app --test real_backend: 16 passed, 1 ignored
  • cargo clippy -p accshift-egui -p accshift-app --all-targets --locked -- -D warnings and cargo fmt --all -- --check pass, on Windows
  • not verified: ubuntu and macOS, left to this PR's CI

📝 Walkthrough

The regression test now edits the local account-card note after the minimized and focus restoration frames. Its comments describe the debounce timing and the fingerprint-less write during refresh.

The regression test should make the manifest boundary deterministic so CI reliably detects the intended refresh bug.

Make the manifest boundary explicit in the restore test.

The third restoration frame starts and polls get_storage_manifest. With the default zero mock latency, begin_refresh can consume the result before set_account_card_note runs. The final value assertion does not prove that the notes store had a pending write at that boundary.

Use deterministic mock control to hold the manifest response, set the note, assert has_pending_save for the notes store, and then release the response.

Nitpick on native_regressions.rs line 150 applied in 757db2e: a 30 ms mock latency keeps the restore frame's own poll of the manifest waiting, the note is typed after it, and the test now asserts has_pending_save for the notes store once begin_refresh has recorded app.config.local. Saves are polled after the refresh tick in a frame, so a write owed at that frame's end was owed when begin_refresh ran.
