You are about to enter the Backrooms. An endless maze of fluorescent-lit rooms that shouldn't exist. Few have escaped. Fewer still remember what they saw.
The Backrooms are described as a liminal space—a transitional area that lies between our reality and something else entirely. When you "no-clip" out of reality, you end up here. They are characterized by:
- Infinite Halls: Endless corridors of drywall and carpet
- Dull Yellow Lighting: The ever-present hum of fluorescent lights
- The Entities: Creatures that don't belong to our world
- The THING: Biomechanically wrong, too many limbs, too many eyes. Moves with unnatural jerky motions.
- The SMILER: A humanoid form with an impossible grin that never leaves its face. It watches. Always watching.
- DEATH: The most dangerous entity—barely visible, a distortion in reality itself. Invisible. Relentless.
- The WATCHER: An entity that is nothing but a massive eye, always observing. Its gaze alone causes psychological damage.

Your mental stability is everything. As you encounter the Backrooms entities, your sanity will deteriorate:
- Sanity 100-75: STABLE - Normal Minecraft
- Sanity 75-50: UNSTABLE - Weakness effect, ambient whispers begin
- Sanity 50-25: CRITICAL - Slowness effect, distortion sounds intensify
- Sanity 0: BROKEN - Complete mental breakdown, Blindness and Nausea effects
THE THING
- Spawns randomly in dark areas
- Moves with unnatural jerky motions
- Deals moderate damage on contact
- Reduces sanity on proximity
THE SMILER
- Always faces toward the player
- Periodically makes eerie laugh sounds
- Deals moderate damage
- Psychological terror from constant staring
DEATH
- Almost completely invisible
- Hunts aggressively with extended detection range
- Deals massive damage on contact
- Causes extreme sanity loss when nearby
- Cannot be killed easily
THE WATCHER
- Floats slowly through the world
- Does not attack directly but gazes at you
- Constant staring causes sanity loss proportional to distance
- The closer you are, the faster your sanity deteriorates
- Entity Detection: Sharp alert sounds when entities become aware
- Ambient Whispers: Eerie whispers appear as sanity decreases
- Ambient Drone: Low-frequency hum that intensifies with horror
- Mental Breakdown: Distortion sounds when sanity is critical
- Game Over: Final scream as your mind shatters completely
- Low Sanity: Weakness effect makes combat harder
- Very Low Sanity: Slowness effect slows movement
- Critical Sanity: Blindness effect makes vision darken
- Broken Sanity: Nausea effect and involuntary movements
- Build Shelter: Create well-lit safe spaces - entities prefer darkness
- Avoid Entities: Use the distance/detection system to stay away
- Manage Sanity: Rest in safe spaces to recover sanity
- Listen Carefully: Audio cues alert you before visual dangers
- Never Stare: Especially avoid looking at The Watcher for too long
