Summary

Prepares the v0.6.0 release. Four commits; the last one gets the tag.

  1. CI actions at their latest major versions:

    • actions/checkout v7, actions/setup-go v7, actions/cache v6,
      codecov/codecov-action v7 and sigstore/cosign-installer v4
      everywhere;
    • actions/setup-node v7 in the website workflow (it was on v4).

    The other twelve actions were on their latest majors already. The new
    majors mostly move to ES modules. checkout v7 also blocks fork
    checkouts under pull_request_target/workflow_run, which no workflow
    here uses. cosign-installer v4 can install Cosign v3, whose sign-blob
    needs --bundle, but both workflows keep pinning Cosign v2.6.3, so
    signatures do not change. This supersedes Dependabot's deps(actions): bump actions/checkout from 6 to 7 #55, deps(actions): bump codecov/codecov-action from 6 to 7 #56 and deps(actions): bump actions/cache from 5 to 6 #88.

  2. AGENTS.md and RELEASE.md:

    • AGENTS.md lists the capabilities added since 0.5.0, names all five
      workflows and what triggers them, and separates pushes to main
      (latest) from tags (version image, signing, GoReleaser, website).
    • It had said the website deploys and the Docker Hub description
      updates on pushes to main; neither happens.
    • RELEASE.md said checksum signing "can be added later". Every release
      since v0.4.0 has shipped checksums.txt.sig/.pem, so the file now
      shows the cosign verify-blob command, checked against v0.5.0.
  3. README:

    • the Features list gains what 0.5.0 lacked;
    • the table of contents lists the eleven sections it skipped (all 48
      in-page links resolve);
    • the message format notes sse_retry's line and the header that
      event_type header reads;
    • Development lists make test-js.
  4. Release stamp: CHANGELOG.md gets [0.6.0] - 2026-09-28 with
    Upgrading notes (urgency, the 20 s ping default, reset replays, rollback
    with timed event IDs, compatibility). docs/PLAN.md ticks the backlog
    (A rewound stream can still skip messages before NUTS confirms the rewind #137–A sample JavaScript client helper for replay-aware subscriptions #146) and links the issues.

Checks

  • make release-check passes locally; CI runs the GoReleaser snapshot
    because workflows changed.
  • Docs tests pass; every workflow file parses.
  • No Go code changes.

actions/checkout v7, actions/setup-go v7, actions/cache v6,
codecov/codecov-action v7 and sigstore/cosign-installer v4 everywhere,
and actions/setup-node v7 in the website workflow. The other actions are
on their latest majors already. cosign-installer v4 can install Cosign
v3, whose sign-blob needs --bundle; both workflows keep pinning Cosign
v2.6.3, so image and checksum signatures do not change.

Supersedes Dependabot's #55, #56 and #88.

AGENTS.md lists what 0.6.0 adds (shared subscriptions, the stream watch
and its reset event, NATS liveness, event_type, payload_format,
event_id_format, retry hints, health_details, the JavaScript helper) and
what consumer_test.go and docs_test.go now cover. Its CI section names
all five workflows, runs the whole unit package under -race rather than
focused race tests, and separates pushes to main (latest image) from
tags (version image, signing, GoReleaser, website): the website deploys
only on tags, and no workflow updates the Docker Hub description.

RELEASE.md said checksum signing could be added later; the release
workflow has signed checksums.txt with Cosign since 0.4, and the file
now shows how to verify them (checked against v0.5.0).

The feature list gains NATS liveness, recreated streams, shared
subscriptions, event names and raw payloads, timed event IDs, retry
hints, readiness details and the JavaScript helper. The table of
contents lists the eleven sections it skipped, and every in-page link
resolves. The message format notes the retry line sse_retry adds and
that event_type header reads a header; Development lists make test-js.

A development release on the 0.x line: streams on a recreated or
restored JetStream stream end with a reset instead of going silent
(#133, #137, #147), requests no longer wait on a NATS server that
stopped answering (#134, #139), timed event IDs (#138), event names
(#142), raw payloads (#143), readiness details (#144), retry hints
(#145) and the JavaScript helper (#146). The Upgrading section covers
the new ping default, reset replays and rolling back with timed IDs.
PLAN.md ticks the backlog. Tag this commit as v0.6.0.
