I would like to request support for an optional empty (null) state for input_datetime when has_time: true is enabled.
Currently, when creating an input_datetime, the default value is always 00:00. In many use cases, 00:00 is a valid and meaningful time, so it cannot reliably represent “not set”.
It would be very helpful if:
input_datetime could support a true null / empty state
The UI could display this as --:-- (similar to other systems)
Automations could detect whether a time was never selected
This would simplify many automation scenarios and remove the need for workarounds like:
Using an additional input_boolean
Treating 00:00 as a special “not set” value
