Summary

Adds .github/workflows/ci.yml, the first GitHub Actions workflow in this repo. It runs on every push and pull request targeting main.

The ubuntu-latest job:

  1. Checks out the repo with actions/checkout@v4 and submodules: recursive (GoogleTest under test/googletest).
  2. Configures with cmake -B build -DMCP_BUILD_TESTS=ON.
  3. Builds Release with cmake --build build --config Release.
  4. Runs ctest --test-dir build --output-on-failure.

SSL (-DMCP_SSL=ON) and a macOS job are left out of this first version. Both can be added later as a matrix.

How to see results

Open the Actions tab on GitHub and select the CI workflow. Each push or pull request to main gets a run; this pull request should get one as soon as the workflow file is on the branch. Inside the run, the Build and test (Ubuntu) job has separate logs for configure, build, and test. If mcp_tests fails, CTest prints the test output because of --output-on-failure.

Verification

The same configure, Release build, and CTest commands were run locally before opening this PR. CTest reported mcp_tests passed (1/1), and the test binary reported 22 tests passed.

Test plan

  • cmake -B build -DMCP_BUILD_TESTS=ON
  • cmake --build build --config Release
  • ctest --test-dir build --output-on-failure
  • Confirm the Actions run on this PR is green

Run the README cmake configure, Release build, and CTest steps on
push and pull requests to main so regressions show up in Actions.
