Galaxy MD

A fast, minimal markdown viewer built for COSMIC desktop.

Opens a .md file and renders it. That's it.

• Tokyo Night dark theme (always on, independent of the system theme)
• Syntax-highlighted code blocks
• Clickable links (opens in default browser)
• Smooth mouse-wheel scrolling
• Live reload when the file changes on disk
• Select Text mode for copy/paste
• Single-file Rust app

Install

From .deb (Pop!_OS / Ubuntu)

Download the latest .deb from Releases and install:

sudo dpkg -i galaxy-md_*.deb

From source

Requires Rust 1.90+ and system dependencies:

sudo apt install just libexpat1-dev libfontconfig-dev libfreetype-dev libinput-dev libxkbcommon-dev libwayland-dev pkg-config cmake

Then build and install:

just install

Usage

galaxy-md README.md

Or double-click any .md file in Files after installing.

Building

just build        # release build
just run FILE.md  # build and run with a file
just clean        # clean build artifacts
