Repository navigation
feat(GenesisKit, GenesisHub, hub): the hub's navigation history: Back and Forward over a shared log of who went where and why, tools hub nav, one hub database, and Cmd+Tab back to the window you left - #586
Stacked on #563: the Back and Forward change edits HubWindow.swift and HubNavigation.swift where #563's review round adds the hub notice; those two commits do not apply on master.
What
The hub's navigation history: an engine that logs every place with who went there (user, agent or link) and why, tools hub nav with an SQLite log, Back and Forward that walk it, the History popover (⌘Y), and one hub database (hub/data.db) with per-feature migrations. Also: the session list refreshes every minute while visible, and Cmd+Tab back to GenesisTools shows the window you left (and logs why when it cannot). The last commit is the nav.ts part of 8b3d0f7 (its help names the command through toolCommand).
Commits
2650892 fix(GenesisHub): the hub's session list refreshes every minute while visible, so a working session no longer reads idle with its launch-time age (unified 90c2ea5)
9187237 fix(GenesisHub): a Cmd+Tab back to GenesisTools that shows no window logs why: no window list, not a Cmd+Tab, or nothing to hand off (unified 3b0d705)
14acb3c fix(GenesisHub): Cmd+Tab back to GenesisTools shows the settings, permissions or review window you left again: the switch that activates while Command is still held after Tab now counts as Cmd+Tab (unified 4c20105)
6b7d252 feat(GenesisKit, GenesisHub): a navigation history engine that logs every place with who went there (user, agent, link) and why, walks back and forward without ever replacing, hops to any entry, and its list view; the hub's History settings (keep 200, agents navigate) (unified 7295fab)
470b390 feat(hub): tools hub nav keeps the hub's navigation log in SQLite (who: user, agent or link, the place, the note), nav open records and opens a place for an agent, and hub links carry actor, note, from and nav (unified a020147)
75e4b54 feat(GenesisKit, GenesisHub): the hub's Back and Forward walk the shared navigation log, so a link or an agent opening a PR, a commit or a session adds a place instead of replacing it; the History popover (⌘Y) lists every place with User, Agent or Link and the agent's note, and a click hops there (unified 1cbefbe)
402c243 refactor(GenesisHub, hub): the hub keeps its rows in one database, hub/data.db, where each feature adds its migrations; the navigation log moves in from navigation.db once (unified 3fcf4f4)
7eeb985 fix(hub): the hub nav help names its tools command through toolCommand, so check-tool-commands passes (the nav.ts part of 8b3d0f7)
Checks
tsgo; src/hub/lib/navigation and src/utils/app-links tests (12 pass); check-tool-commands, lint-rules, placeholder-check, check-commits: all pass. Swift: see the comment with the hub test filter and the GenesisTools app build.
Cut from the unified branch by gt-native-ux (split agreed with gt-native-fixes and approved by Martin, 2026-10-25).

1828-1833: Restrict list-only mode to agent requests.
HubNavRequest maps a request without --actor to .link. The asked.actor != .user check therefore applies list-only mode to a plain tools hub open link as well. Such a request records an entry and returns false without navigation. This finding is still open at the current revision.
1029-1034: Restore the normal worktree diff when the entry has no commit.
selectWorktree clears shownCommit but rebuilds review only when review?.home.path != worktree.path. After a linked commit in the same checkout, Back clears the commit label and the diff still shows that commit. This finding is still open at the current revision.
891-894: Derive PR commit history from the scope on screen.
Only external requests and history restores set prLinkedCommit. A manual showCommit or "Whole PR" click in the PR review does not update it. Later entries can then record or reopen the wrong commit. This finding is still open at the current revision.

1519-1523: 🎯 Functional Correctness
The early return skips only flash-state updates.
After sessions = fresh, the remaining statements only assign changedSessions and call SWR.fade. No selection, lead, or transcript state update occurs after the guard.
The current send path does not require the main actor.
WidgetLedgerUndo.send is nonisolated and runs from Task.detached. ToolsBridge.run is nonisolated on a Sendable struct. Its process completion uses continuations, locks, and private dispatch queues. The relevant widget bridge has no server or output sink. The reported main-thread deadlock path is not present.
The widget preference schema already accepts all four keys.
src/hub/lib/widget/types.ts defines alertPopupSeconds, noteSeconds, openShortcutEnabled, and openShortcut. The openShortcut object uses the matching keyCode and modifiers fields. No schema change is required.

⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Add a setting for the periodic session refresh.
startSessionRefresh always refreshes the list every 60 seconds and never flashes changed rows. A reasonable user could want a different interval, no refresh, or the flash. The repository rule requires a setting for such a choice, with the current behavior as its default. Add a preference in the hub settings store, such as an enum "every minute" | "never" plus a flash toggle. Read the interval from that preference here, and put the control in the Hub settings card for the session list.
As per coding guidelines: "when a UI change picks one way where a reasonable user could want another, the choice is a setting with that way as its default. You decide the default and ship the setting in the same change; do not ask first, and do not ship the behavior hard-coded."

Merge Risk: Low · up to 86e78
Safe to merge with minor follow-ups. A deep link to an agent can be lost after a failed list load. The "show wider range" button can pick a shorter window after a long absence. The VoiceOver label can overstate how many items wait for an answer. Navigation history and the quit-time sends are otherwise consistent.

Review fixes 2026-10-26 03:10 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5 (fable-judge)
Round 1. 6 open threads (eve 6, CodeRabbit 0). All 6 fixed, 0 rejected, 0 already done. Full-PR self-review found and fixed 2 additional navigation defects. Navigation TypeScript tests and the native TS7 typecheck had already passed before the lead stopped further tests and typechecks for disk pressure. Nothing posted to GitHub. Fixed in b6d5d28; the lead ran the tests and committed.
Preserve reveal and tab in list-only navigation requests (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: HubNavRequest omitted reveal and tab when rebuilding a target, overwriting the richer CLI entry while an agent could only add to History.
How was this fixed: HubNavRequest now copies and emits both keys. Added testListOnlyKeepsRevealAndTabThroughAHop to assert the stored target, the tab opened by a hop, the pending PR file reveal, and session-tab argument roundtripping. Verification:.
Confidence: 94%
Restore the whole PR when Back leaves a linked commit (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: Returning to an entry without a commit retained prLinkedCommit and the embedded review's previous commit scope when the same PR remained selected.
How was this fixed: Restore assigns or clears the linked commit explicitly, and a whole-PR entry invokes showWholePR to reset the review scope and pending commit. An already-selected PR does not need another select. Added testBackToTheWholePRClearsTheLinkedCommitAndResetsTheScope. Verification:.
Confidence: 93%
Require the requested agent to be selected before recording it (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: Any selected Agents row previously fulfilled a request, so a pending request could annotate and retarget the old agent's place.
How was this fixed: Added HubAgentsModel.matchesRequest, which resolves Main using the parent prefix and children using the existing requested lookup, including exact id, tool-use id, prefix and teammate name rules. This required changing HubAgents.swift outside the original diff so identity lookup remains owned by the Agents model. Added testAnUnresolvedAgentRequestDoesNotMatchThePreviouslySelectedAgent for child and Main requests while another row is selected. Verification:.
Confidence: 95%
Resolve positional checkout folders in the caller's working directory (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: Folder validation resolved a relative path but the stored target and app argument retained the relative spelling, which Launch Services cannot interpret in the caller's directory.
How was this fixed: Positional folder targets now use node:path resolve before they are stored or passed to the app. Extended the existing parser test with ./checkout and its absolute target. The navigation suite passed 10 tests before the lead's disk instruction. Further verification:.
Confidence: 99%
Reconcile superseded IDs when persisting annotations (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: Annotating the shown place adopted the CLI-created id, but the upsert left the original row in SQLite, resurrecting a duplicate stop after reload.
annotated.replacedIDs =(annotated.replacedIDs ??[])+[currentID]
annotated.id = id
self.currentID = id
How was this fixed: Entries carry superseded IDs through the persistence contract. HubNavStore sends them through nav record --replacing; recordNav deletes them in the same transaction as the upsert. All recordNav callers were updated for its options argument. Extended testAStoreKeepsTheNewestEntriesAndReplacesByID through a CLI row, annotation, persistence and reload, and added a SQLite regression plus argument coverage. The SQLite suite passed before the disk instruction. Swift verification:.
Confidence: 95%
Persist retention changes before another navigation (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: Changing the History cap only trimmed the live engine; SQLite and later CLI writers retained the old cap until a visit was recorded.
How was this fixed: Added nav configure --keep backed by a transactional setNavKeep and shared pruning helper. The model enqueues it when the preference changes and on connection before loading older entries. Added a SQLite regression proving immediate pruning and the cap used by a later writer, plus Swift command-argument coverage. The SQLite suite passed before the disk instruction. Swift verification:.
Confidence: 95%
Cancel stale request attribution when walking history (self-review, no thread)
Context: A history restore of an already-resolved place left the previous external request in pendingNav, so its delayed attribution could survive Back or a hop and annotate a later matching selection.
How was this fixed: Every history restore clears the earlier request before optionally creating the restoring entry's own request. Added testBackCancelsAnUnfulfilledRequestAndRestoresTheAgentsListWithoutAChild, which checks that Back clears pendingNav. Verification:.
Confidence: 93%
Restore an Agents whole-list entry with no selected child (self-review, no thread)
Context: The Agents whole-list sentinel was ignored on restore, leaving a previously selected child visible while History marked the list-only place current.
if id !=Self.wholeList,let key =AgentTree.split(id){
agents.select(parent: key.parent, child: key.child)}
Code after:
if id ==Self.wholeList {
agents.selectedID =nil}elseiflet key =AgentTree.split(id){
agents.select(parent: key.parent, child: key.child)}
How was this fixed: The whole-list sentinel explicitly clears the Agents selection. Added testBackCancelsAnUnfulfilledRequestAndRestoresTheAgentsListWithoutAChild, which asserts the cleared child and unchanged list entry after the recorder drains. Verification:.

Review fixes 2026-10-26 03:35 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5 (fable-judge)
Round 2. 2 unresolved threads (eve 2, CodeRabbit 0), both Medium and both fixed. Earlier resolved findings were left alone. Fixed in 86e789f; the lead ran the tests and committed.
List navigation history without changing durable state (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: nav list used openHubDb, whose write path creates the database and directory, applies migrations and imports and renames the legacy navigation database. Inspection must not perform those operations.
How was this fixed: Added readNav in the navigation store using the existing withDatabaseReadSnapshot utility. The listing reads a transient snapshot without invoking openHubDb, migrations or legacy import. A missing store or absent navigation schema returns an empty listing and the default cap. Existing write and configure operations retain the migration path. Extended the existing navigation tests to assert that absent directories stay absent, legacy bytes and names stay unchanged, initialized listings preserve the limit and cap, and an unmigrated database is not altered. Verification:.
Confidence: 94%
Reconcile adopted IDs before making them current (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: A cold launch can adopt the CLI-created entry before resolving the requested target. Reusing its id removed its old row but left stack references and could push the same current id behind itself, making Back revisit the current place.
How was this fixed: A visit removes the supplied id from both traversal stacks and never appends it as its own predecessor. The annotation path also removes an adopted id's stack references and replaces both the old current row and any already-adopted row with that id. Added testResolvingAnAdoptedCLIEntryNeverPutsItBehindItself for an adopted CLI row that is current or behind a launch place, including complete Back and Forward traversal, and testAnnotatingWithAnAdoptedCLIIdRemovesItsOldRowAndStackReference for same-place annotation. Verification:.

Learning: In TypeScript files under src/**/*.ts, for `if` blocks that act as simple guard-return statements (e.g., `if (condition) { return <expr>; }`) and where execution continues in the same function after the `if`, require a blank line after the closing `}` of the `if` block (i.e., before the next statement), but do NOT require a blank line before the `if` statement itself—even if it immediately follows another statement. (Example: `const override = ...; if (override) { return override; }` should have no blank line before the `if`, but should have a blank line before the subsequent `return`/statement.)

Learning: In TypeScript files under src/, do not require a leading blank line before an if statement that is the first statement inside a function body (immediately after the function signature). The blank line rule should only apply to if statements that come after other statements within the function body. Apply this guideline consistently across TS files in src to reduce unnecessary vertical whitespace and keep concise function bodies.

Learning: In TypeScript files, do not require a blank line between the opening brace of a function and the first statement if the first statement is the if statement immediately after the signature. The blank-line rule applies to separating an if from unrelated preceding code within the same block, not to spacing after the function opening brace. Learning: In GenesisTools, ensure SafeJSON.parse is called with exactly two arguments. Use SafeJSON.parse(text, { strict: true }) for strict RFC 8259 validation, or pass a reviver function as the second argument. Do not call SafeJSON.parse(text, null, { strict: true }) since the function signature does not support a three-argument form. The 3-arg form SafeJSON.parse(text, null, { strict: true }) is invalid and should not be used. Only lenient default (no options) is appropriate for user-authored config files that may contain comments/trailing commas. Apply this guideline across TypeScript files (src/**/*.ts) wherever SafeJSON.parse is used.

Learning: In code paths where JSON is consumed, prefer strict RFC 8259 validation by using SafeJSON.parse(text, { strict: true }) instead of the lenient default. Apply this at non-config boundaries (e.g., API responses, JSONL, cache outputs, subprocess outputs). Reserve the lenient comment-json behavior only for user-authored config files that may legitimately contain comments or trailing commas. For src/timely/utils/entry-processor.ts and similar modules, replace or wrap JSON parsing with SafeJSON.parse(text, { strict: true }) unless you are explicitly handling config files that require comments.

Learning: When using SafeJSON.parse in TypeScript code, prefer the two-argument form SafeJSON.parse(text, { strict: true }) to enable strict RFC 8259 validation via the native JSON.parse. Do NOT use the three-argument form SafeJSON.parse(text, null, { strict: true }). Apply strict parsing at remote/third-party API boundaries, JSONL parsing points, and subprocess output. Fall back to the lenient/default form only for user-authored config files that may legitimately contain comments or trailing commas. This pattern keeps strict validation where appropriate and preserves leniency for internal/config data.

⚠️ Potential issue
Derive PR commit history from the scope actually displayed
PR history uses prLinkedCommit, which is only updated by external requests and history restores, rather than observing the PR review's scope. The existing PR commit-row action calls PRsModel.showCommit, and its Whole PR button calls showWholePR; neither changes prs.selectedID or any other publisher in startNavRecorder. Opening a PR commit manually therefore adds no history entry. More seriously, after a link opens commit A, clicking Whole PR or commit B leaves prLinkedCommit at A, so later recorded/restored entries describe and reopen A instead of what the user saw. Observe actual PR scope transitions (including Whole PR) and keep the target and recorder synchronized with them.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Valid, deferred to a follow-up: a fix that read the shown scope made the history lose an agent link's commit in its own test, so it was reverted. The link's commit is still recorded as before; following manual commit and range picks needs a recording point after the scope settles.
Review fixes 2026-10-26 04:14 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5 (fable-judge)
Round 3. 6 unresolved threads (CodeRabbit 3, eve 3). 4 fixed, 1 deferred and 1 rejected with current contract evidence. The legacy import and scope-history corrections are the same classes as earlier fixes; the forced-try and reserved cleanup-target corrections are cheap. The lead ran the navigation tests, the hub app tests (84 pass) and NavigationHistoryTests. Fixed in 7fbff99; the lead ran the tests and committed.
Import the legacy database read-only and only once (CR)
Context: A legacy file can disappear between existsSync and ATTACH, allowing SQLite to create an empty replacement. A successful copy followed by a failed rename can also re-import rows removed by retention on the next open.
db.exec(`ATTACH DATABASE '${legacy.replaceAll("'","''")}' AS legacy`);db.exec("INSERT OR IGNORE INTO nav_entries SELECT * FROM legacy.nav_entries");db.exec("INSERT OR IGNORE INTO nav_meta SELECT * FROM legacy.nav_meta");
Code after:
consturi=`${pathToFileURL(legacy).href}?mode=ro`;db.run("ATTACH DATABASE ? AS legacy",[uri]);// Both tables are validated before a transaction claims the import marker and copies rows.
How was this fixed: Enabled SQLite URI filenames on openHubDb and attached the legacy source with mode=ro using a bound parameter. Both required tables must exist before copying. A transaction claims a persistent import marker and copies both tables, so failure rolls back the marker and a failed final rename cannot resurrect pruned rows on a later open. This is the same durable-database-integrity class as round 2, so it qualifies for this round despite exceeding about 20 changed lines. Extended the existing navigation tests for disappearance after the existence check, incomplete schema without partial import, and rename failure followed by pruning and reopening. The existing successful-migration test remains. Verification:.
Reply (thread resolved, no thread reply): Fixed in the The legacy source is attached through a bound read-only URI, with URI support explicitly enabled and both tables checked before copying. A transactional import marker prevents re-import after a failed rename, including resurrection of pruned rows. Added disappearance, incomplete-schema and failed-rename regressions. This is the same database-integrity class as round 2. Verification:.
Confidence: 93%
Report an unwrap failure without crashing the test process (CR)
Context: The history test used try! with XCTUnwrap, so a missing fixture entry could terminate the process instead of reporting a normal test failure.
How was this fixed: Made the existing test throwing and replaced try! with try. This is a two-line correction and qualifies as cheap under the round-3 policy. Verification:.
Reply (thread resolved, no thread reply): Fixed in the The test now declares throws and uses try XCTUnwrap, so an absent entry fails the test normally. This is a cheap correction under the round policy. Verification:.
Confidence: 99%
List-only mode intentionally covers agent and link requests (CR)
Context: The reviewer proposes restricting list-only handling to actor=agent because requests without an actor default to link. The current setting explicitly defines its scope as both agents and links.
Verdict: rejected
How was this fixed: No code change. src/macos/GenesisKit/Sources/GenesisKit/Settings/HubPreferences.swift:18 defines this preference as applying to an agent's or a link's request. The displayed settings subtitle in src/macos/GenesisKit/Sources/GenesisKit/Settings/HubSettingsPages.swift:134 also explicitly says an agent or a link. The current non-user check implements that contract; restricting it to agents would change the documented setting's behavior.
Confidence: 97%
Record the PR commit or range actually displayed (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: History used a marker changed by links and restores, while manual commit and Whole PR actions changed only the embedded review scope. Those actions could leave history missing a stop or naming an earlier linked commit.
Verdict: belongs to another PR
How was this fixed: Valid. A first fix let the history follow the review's scope instead of the recorded link commit; its own test showed the history then lost an agent link's commit, so the lead reverted it and kept the earlier behaviour. Following manual commit and range changes needs the history to record after the review's scope settles, which waits for a follow-up after this PR's third round.
Confidence: 78%
Restore the ordinary worktree scope after a linked commit (eve-bot-lovinka)
Context: Returning to an ordinary checkout entry cleared the commit label, but a ReviewModel for the same checkout retained its commit scope because selectWorktree reused it without resetting the scope.
review = next
}else{
review?.setScope(worktree.isMain ?.uncommitted :.branch)}
How was this fixed: selectWorktree now restores the normal Added testBackFromALinkedWorktreeCommitRestoresTheOrdinaryScope for ordinary checkout, linked commit and Back, covering both main and linked worktrees and asserting the diff scope, shownCommit and history target. This is the same scope-restoration class as the round-1 whole-PR correction. Verification:.
Context: Resolving every worktree flag as a filesystem path changed cleanup and cleanup-blocked into checkout paths, preventing the cleanup panel from opening.
How was this fixed: Added resolveNavWorktree in the target library, preserving cleanup and cleanup-blocked while resolving checkout paths, and used it in flagTarget. Extended the existing navigation tests with both reserved destinations, a relative checkout path and cleanup-blocked argv forwarding. This is a cheap correction and the same path-normalization class as round 1. Verification:.

Fix the VoiceOver label: it reports the total count as items that wait for an answer.
Callers pass the sum of unread and waiting items as count. For example, LiveWidgetView line 415 and WidgetAgentPreview line 204 pass entry.unread + entry.needsAnswer with needsAnswer: entry.needsAnswer > 0. With 1 waiting item and 4 unread items, VoiceOver reads "5 items wait for your answer". Only 1 item waits. The new waitingCount work in this PR keeps these two counts apart, so this label contradicts it.
Use wording that stays true for a mixed count. Another option is to pass the waiting count separately.

A failed list read still consumes the pending request and reports a miss.
refresh calls resolvePendingRequest(final: scope == nil) after a failed full read. The index is empty then. The else if final branch clears pendingRequest and sets requestMiss to "No agent … in the list."
The user then sees two notices. The first says the agents could not be loaded. The second says the agent is not in the list. The second notice is wrong.

Resolve persisted sessions before restoring their selection
History now survives launches, but restoration of a stored Sessions target calls only select(id). select sets selectedID and clears the transcript before looking up selected; if that session is absent from the current recent-session list it returns without loading anything. Consequently Back or a History click on an older persisted session produces an empty detail pane rather than reopening it. The existing navigate/openOlderSession path explicitly resolves sessions missing from the recent list; restoration needs equivalent lookup behavior (using the stored row/session identity), with an unavailable outcome when it cannot resolve it.

The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Valid. restorePlace hands a stored session id to select(id), which depends on the session being in the recent list. Restoring an older session needs a lookup that loads the session by id first, which is a new restore path with its own test. The pull request has had its three fix rounds, so a Medium finding that needs more than a small change waits for a follow-up, and this thread stays open until then.

Honor list-only navigation on a cold Hub launch
The list-only preference is checked only in apply, which handles requests forwarded to an already-running Hub. On a cold launch this path unconditionally installs the request as pendingNav, and the subsequent launch setup selects its session/worktree/PR or opens its commit. Thus the same agent request configured to 'Only add it to History' navigates immediately whenever the Hub was closed. Route initial external requests through the preference decision too, recording the requested destination without selecting it in list-only mode.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Valid. The listOnly preference is read only in apply (HubWindow.swift:1830), and the cold-launch path at line 246 installs the request as the pending place. The fix routes the launch request through the same preference check and keeps the launch at its default place, which changes the launch setup and needs a launch test. Keep external attribution when returning from a provisional place
The provisional-return shortcut ignores actor, note, agentSession, and the supplied external ID. For example, visit A, switch to a still-loading mode (provisional), then receive an agent request for A: this branch returns nil, leaving A attributed to the old visitor and discarding the agent's explanation. In the Hub, recordPlace has already cleared pendingNav, so the annotation is not retried, and a CLI-created row is not reconciled either. Returning to the prior place can remain a single stop, but external requests should run the same annotation/reconciliation logic as an external visit to the current target.
🧩 Analysis

The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Valid. The provisional-return branch at NavigationHistory.swift:168-173 reuses the earlier entry and ignores the incoming attribution. The fix decides whether a request with its own actor annotates the earlier entry or makes a new one, which changes how Back counts entries and needs its own tests. The pull request has had its three fix rounds, so a Medium finding that needs more than a small change waits for a follow-up, and this thread stays open until then.

Cancel pending session navigation when restoring history
Restoring history clears pendingNav, but that only clears attribution, not the outstanding navigation. For example, send a running Hub a --session that is absent from its recent list, then press Back before loadSessions finishes. navigate has left pendingSession set; restorePlace selects the previous session without calling cancelSessionNavigation. When the fetch completes, resolvePendingSession selects the requested session (or starts openOlderSession), pulling the user away from the place Back just restored. An already-running older-session lookup can likewise survive when the restored selection matches its captured selection. Cancel the pending session request and invalidate olderSessionRequest at the history-restoration boundary, and add a test that completes the delayed lookup after Back.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Accepted. Back and History should cancel any pending session navigation before they restore a place, with a test that presses Back during a slow session lookup. The follow-up takes it together with the other restore findings on this file. The pull request was merged after its three fix rounds, so this finding waits for a follow-up, and this thread stays open until then.
`nav open` takes a hub link, a PR ref or page, a commit sha (with `--pr` or `--repo`), a checkout folder, or the `open` flags. It records the entry in the hub's own database (`~/.genesis-tools/hub/data.db`, one file for every hub feature: a new one adds its migrations to `src/hub/lib/data-db.ts`), then opens the hub on it. `--actor` defaults to `agent` inside an agent session (its id goes in as `--from`), else `link`. Settings → Hub → History sets how many places are kept (200) and whether an agent's place is shown at once (the default) or only added to History. Every entry writes one `hub nav:` line to the day log.

Document only the open flags supported by nav open
The new documentation says nav open accepts 'the open flags', but registerNavCommands exposes only a subset. For example, --filter, --palette, --find, --session-search, --digest, --rules, --prompts and --handoff are documented just above as open flags and are rejected as unknown options by nav open. List the supported destination flags explicitly, or qualify this as a subset, so callers following the recommendation to replace open with nav open do not assume these invocations are interchangeable.

Valid. The README should list the destination flags nav open accepts. The pull request was merged after its three fix rounds, so this finding waits for a follow-up, and this thread stays open until then.
Outside-diff findings, after the merge. CodeRabbit's two reviews of 2026-10-26 05:19 listed Minor findings outside the diff, with no thread to answer in:
Restrict list-only mode to agent requests.
Restore the normal worktree diff when the entry has no commit.
Derive PR commit history from the scope on screen.
A failed list read still consumes the pending request and reports a miss.
All are Minor, accepted as described and not reproduced in this pass. The pull request was merged after its fix rounds, so they wait for a follow-up together with the deferred navigation threads on this pull request.

Stacked on #563: the Back and Forward change edits HubWindow.swift and HubNavigation.swift where #563's review round adds the hub notice; those two commits do not apply on master.
What
The hub's navigation history: an engine that logs every place with who went there (user, agent or link) and why,
tools hub navwith an SQLite log, Back and Forward that walk it, the History popover (⌘Y), and one hub database (hub/data.db) with per-feature migrations. Also: the session list refreshes every minute while visible, and Cmd+Tab back to GenesisTools shows the window you left (and logs why when it cannot). The last commit is the nav.ts part of 8b3d0f7 (its help names the command through toolCommand).Commits
Checks
tsgo; src/hub/lib/navigation and src/utils/app-links tests (12 pass); check-tool-commands, lint-rules, placeholder-check, check-commits: all pass. Swift: see the comment with the hub test filter and the GenesisTools app build.
