chore(ci): eve reviews big PRs in large-PR mode and skips its own typecheck; the root TypeScript program is 24% cheaper to check - #571
eve's reviews of big PRs here were degraded passes on every push (#562: 13, 14, 20, then 44 patches lost to the 600k-char diff budget). A degraded pass never confirms its head, so the next push re-reviewed the whole PR. The reviewer's own typecheck also ran the root program on TypeScript 6 (5.35 GB heap, 32 s locally), ran out of memory at 3 GiB and out of time at 6 GiB in about 100 of 949 reviews in 30 days.
What
.eve-review.yml: largePrMode: auto and checks: { typecheck: true, typecheckScope: changed } (Martin's DECISION 6 b): the reviewer typechecks only the changed files, their callers and the global declarations, about 1.0-1.3 GB instead of ~5 GB). CI stays the gate (scripts/ci/typecheck.ts, TypeScript 7); the reviewer's compiler errors are evidence for its finder and verifier. Both keys take effect once henderson-tech/eve-ai-layer#1046 deploys. Until then the reviewer's zod schema strips unknown keys, so the file stays valid.
typecheck:tsgate scripts in package.json and src/utils/package.json. The deployed reviewer parses scripts for vybava tsgate <tsconfig> and then runs the program on the installed TypeScript 7 binary (@typescript/native): 5.0 GB and 6 s instead of TS 6. The scripts also work by hand with Výbava installed (bun run typecheck:tsgate, 5.9 s for both programs). bun.lock is unchanged.
The root TypeScript program, smaller (by the gt-native-fixes session)
5eefd306e6 Chart.js gets its type argument; icon and link props are component types instead of every HTML tag (7 UI files); "types": ["bun"]; src/**/dist excluded.
5827699787 Stripe becomes a package-store package installed on first use (ensurePackage, like the other heavy packages in STORE_PACKAGES), so its 228 declaration files leave every program; the billing gateway types its one call.
6e1b94e3dd, 77bf6fc9e9 the remaining type fixes (LanguageModel, the gantt band layer) and comments at each changed type.
75bbcba9df, 2a8d10fcb3tools ts program cost|files|own|closure|trace: what a TypeScript program costs to check, per phase, file and folder (cost --heap 3072 fails like a 3 GiB reviewer).
5b798f5a59 the performance skill's references/typecheck.md.
Measured on this branch, base a23c123ca7 vs head, 3 interleaved rounds, medians:
base
head
TS 6 retained heap after check
4,362 MiB
4,009 MiB
TS 6 instantiations
3.10 M
2.36 M (-24%)
TS 6 at node's default 4,192 MiB heap
out of memory 3 of 3
finishes
TS 7 total / max RSS
4.48 s / 4.98 GB
3.30 s / 4.64 GB
The root still needs about 4 GiB, so the reviewer's 3 GiB first try still fails; checks.typecheckScope: changed (henderson-tech/eve-ai-layer#1046) is what fixes that for review.
Verification
vybava tsgate tsconfig.json src/utils/tsconfig.json: both programs pass.
The reviewer's runTypecheck (eve-ai-layer#1046 branch) run locally on this branch: compiler: typescript7 for both programs, 5.6 s, no notes.
Head 2a8d10fcb3: vybava tsgate tsconfig.json src/utils/tsconfig.json passes; the touched tests (ts program, packages, billing gateway, routes, cycle, db, webhooks, UI) 76 pass, 0 fail; check-commits 8 commits, 0 to fix; placeholder probe clean; root tsc 4.62 GB RSS on the verifying Mac.
Added TypeScript analysis commands for measuring checking time and memory, identifying costly files, exploring dependency relationships, and inspecting compiler traces.
Analysis results include file-level costs and links to relevant source locations. Commands also support selecting a runtime, setting memory and timeout limits, and returning JSON results.
Documentation
Added command examples and guidance for interpreting TypeScript performance measurements, including the limitations of checking a reduced project scope.

Changes: TypeScript analysis and type-check updates
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Program contracts, worker, and runner src/ts/lib/program/types.ts, src/ts/lib/program/run.ts, src/ts/lib/program/check-worker.ts
New result types and utilities support compiler phase, file-cost, selected-file, and graph measurements. The runner starts bounded worker and trace processes.
Closure and trace analysis src/ts/lib/program/closure.ts, src/ts/lib/program/trace.ts
Helpers aggregate folder and package closures, find import chains, group file costs, and report compiler trace timings and hotspots.
The CLI registers five program commands. Tests cover command validation, worker execution, and analysis behavior. Documentation describes command usage, measurements, and type-checking guidance.
Type-check scripts and compiler settings change. Selected React types are narrowed, and Chart.js, Gantt, and AI model types are made explicit.
Lazy Stripe checkout loading

Learning: In GenesisTools, ensure SafeJSON.parse is called with exactly two arguments. Use SafeJSON.parse(text, { strict: true }) for strict RFC 8259 validation, or pass a reviver function as the second argument. Do not call SafeJSON.parse(text, null, { strict: true }) since the function signature does not support a three-argument form. Learning: In genesiscz/GenesisTools, when using `SafeJSON.parse` in `src/**/*.ts`, it is acceptable to omit `{ strict: true }` if (and only if) the JSON being parsed is internal cache/state written by the same codebase (e.g., data saved by one internal writer and later read from a corresponding cached file). Do not require strict mode for these internal, machine-generated cache files. Require `{ strict: true }` at external/untrusted boundaries instead (e.g., API responses, third-party JSONL, subprocess output, or any JSON whose contents may not have been produced by trusted internal code).

Learning: When using SafeJSON.parse in TypeScript code, prefer the two-argument form SafeJSON.parse(text, { strict: true }) to enable strict RFC 8259 validation via the native JSON.parse. Do NOT use the three-argument form SafeJSON.parse(text, null, { strict: true }). Apply strict parsing at remote/third-party API boundaries, JSONL parsing points, and subprocess output. 48-51: 🩺 Stability & Availability
The supported Node version is not established.
runProgramWorker invokes node directly on check-worker.ts without a TypeScript loader flag. Older Node versions may reject this file, but the repository does not define the supported Node version for this command. The only version file found is scoped to src/dashboard.

118-174: 🚀 Performance & Scalability
Runtime impact is undecidable from the source alone.
program.test.ts makes four sequential runProgramWorker calls, and run.ts launches a Node worker for each call. No test-log measurement is available to compare this file with the CI ceiling, so the proposed consolidation is not yet justified.
… tsgate scripts fall back when vybava is not installed
Review of #571: scripts/ci/typecheck.ts never checked src/utils/tsconfig.json,

that program unchecked; it is now a CI project (1.3 s on TypeScript 7). The
typecheck:tsgate scripts run vybava tsgate when it is on PATH and the repo's
own typecheck otherwise, so a clean checkout never fails with command not
found; eve's reviewer still reads both as TypeScript 7 gates.

Fall back to the lenient/default form only for user-authored config files that may legitimately contain comments or trailing commas. This pattern keeps strict validation where appropriate and preserves leniency for internal/config data.

…(default 900 s) or Ctrl-C and reaps its process group, reports a tsconfig's own errors, resolves graph edges with each import's mode, checks for node before spawning, validates the worker mode without a cast, prints follow-up commands that run as typed, and documents own's smaller program
…l the child and remove its result folder, an already-aborted signal starts nothing and reads as interrupted, and generateTrace forwards its deadline and removes a partial trace
… resolve type references in the file's mode
A --timeout past 2147483 s overflowed setTimeout and boundedCommand threw a bare Error; numberArg now refuses it as a usage error.
The check worker resolved /// <reference types> without the file's resolution mode, so a .cts file asking for resolution-mode="import" got the require entry of a dual package.
…vent and poll liveness at 100 ms
The fixture child renames its start file into place, so waitForPath never reads half a JSON. The pid is a grandchild with no exit event, so liveness stays a poll, now at the 100 ms floor of .claude/rules/code.md.

Review fixes 2026-10-26 02:03 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5 (fable-judge)
Round 1. 0 open threads (eve 0, CodeRabbit 0, humans 0). Full PR self-review found one graph defect. The additional review-body comment about Node requirements is also addressed. The unthreaded SkillSpector security warning is rejected with source evidence. Historical inline review summaries describe already-resolved threads. Fixed in d352108. The PR is recomposed into two commits with an identical tree: 2153c59 (type-check performance and CI) and d352108 (tools ts program).
Folder closures omit automatically included global type packages (self-review, no thread)
Context: The worker resolves compilerOptions.types literally. TypeScript 6 expands types: ["*"] over typeRoots, so resolving the literal asterisk misses global declaration packages that the program actually loads. These declarations are not imported by source files, so every folder's closure undercounts its dependencies. The same issue affects automatic type discovery with older target TypeScript versions.
How was this fixed: Use the target compiler's automatic type directive discovery before resolving each base dependency. Added an existing-file regression at src/ts/lib/program/program.test.ts:507 with two independent folders and an unimported global declaration package. It checks base:true for wildcard discovery, excludes the package with types:[], and compares folder package-file counts by a one-file delta so TypeScript's own libraries are accounted for. Final test verification: not run (the lead verifies at integration). Earlier iterations ran before the lead restriction and failed due to fixture mistakes: first a missing TypeScript 6 wildcard, then a count that also included standard libraries. The final revised assertion has not been executed and an old-worker negative control remains for integration.

Document the Node version required by the default TypeScript worker (CR, no thread)
Context: The additional review-body comment at src/ts/lib/program/run.ts:48-51 notes that Node executes check-worker.ts directly, while the supported Node version was unspecified. Older Node installations cannot execute the TypeScript source without a loader or stripping flag.
tsconfig argument is a file or a folder holding `tsconfig.json`, default `./tsconfig.json`. Every command takes `--json`.
Code after:
The default worker requires Node.js 22.18 or newer with built-in TypeScript stripping enabled, because it runs the
worker's `.ts` source directly. On an older Node installation, pass `--runtime bun` to `cost`, `files`, `own`,
`closure` or `sites`. `trace` runs the project's JavaScript `tsc` entry point and only requires a Node version
supported by that project's TypeScript.
How was this fixed: Documented the runtime prerequisite beside the program command introduction, named the Bun alternative for the five worker commands, and distinguished trace's JavaScript compiler entry point. No new files were needed. Verification: not run (the lead verifies at integration).

SkillSpector warning does not identify a persistence mechanism (CR, no thread)
Context: The review body includes a SkillSpector RA2 security warning claiming the performance skill establishes unauthorized cross-session persistence through cron jobs, startup scripts or state files.
Verdict: rejected
Why: Rejected with source evidence. The cited line 3 is the skill description. The workflow at .claude/skills/performance/SKILL.md:16-33 runs requested measurements and records benchmark evidence and a ledger; it installs no cron job, startup script or background persistence mechanism. This PR only adds documentation links at lines 72-73 and 110-111. Verification: not run (the lead verifies at integration).

Why
eve's reviews of big PRs here were degraded passes on every push (#562: 13, 14, 20, then 44 patches lost to the 600k-char diff budget).
What
.eve-review.yml:largePrMode: autoandchecks: { typecheck: true, typecheckScope: changed }(Martin's DECISION 6 b): the reviewer typechecks only the changed files, their callers and the global declarations, about 1.0-1.3 GB instead of ~5 GB). CI stays the gate (scripts/ci/typecheck.ts, TypeScript 7); the reviewer's compiler errors are evidence for its finder and verifier. Both keys take effect once henderson-tech/eve-ai-layer#1046 deploys. Until then the reviewer's zod schema strips unknown keys, so the file stays valid.typecheck:tsgatescripts inpackage.jsonandsrc/utils/package.json. The deployed reviewer parses scripts forvybava tsgate <tsconfig>and then runs the program on the installed TypeScript 7 binary (@typescript/native): 5.0 GB and 6 s instead of TS 6. The scripts also work by hand with Výbava installed (bun run typecheck:tsgate, 5.9 s for both programs). bun.lock is unchanged. The root TypeScript program, smaller (by the gt-native-fixes session)
