Part 2 of 5 of the split of the unified branch #507 (cut at 189a4569d). Each split PR holds whole commits from unified, picked in their original order; commits already in another open PR (#524, #527, #528, #530, #531, #532) stay there.

Base

Stacked on #533 (feat/2026-10-15-cmux-find-links-and-hub-commit-links): the hubUrl change in src/hub/lib/open.ts reads OpenHubOptions.commit and .repo, which that PR adds. Merge after it.

Commits (86)

  • 415d09f docs(skills, swift): the three ScreenCaptureKit traps behind the recorder fixes, replayd per-path streams, contentRect in points, a sheet's stream holding its parent
  • 8fe6f06 docs(skills, babysit): every round gets a full fable-judge read of the summary, the reply file and the whole diff before the push, refusals and deferrals judged on their merits, plants run the commit's own tests
  • 155f460 feat(skills, babysit): a run ledger records every prompt, worker reply, judge verdict and push as JSONL and renders the audit note on demand
  • e8dcf41 feat(skills, babysit): the overnight run's scripts become the skill's (run card, self-fetch brief, steer and wait with ledger, judge pack, integrate, round readiness, worktree setup)
  • 1c4f83e docs(skills, babysit): judging checklist numbers in order
  • 82e3be3 docs(skills, babysit): landing a PR in master is an optional step that needs the user's approval and never blocks the review rounds
  • 8b13638 docs(skills, babysit): a worker never builds, installs or relaunches the user's app
  • bb788f1 feat(skills, babysit): a two-phase /tmp and TMPDIR reclaim (plan, then apply with a re-check) that never touches live sessions, open files, sockets or git checkouts, and a disk watcher that wakes the lead
  • 57a3d7b fix(skills, babysit): integrate replies on a thread a later round fixes after an earlier round deferred it, which post-replies skipped as already answered
  • 12aafa0 feat(skills, babysit): restack a PR for landing with hooks and rerere off, version files resolved to the higher version, code conflicts left to the worker
  • 31adff5 fix(skills, babysit): the tmp reclaim's whole-machine lsof is a named exception to no-process-tool-spawn, because its deletion guard needs mapped files the process layer does not read
  • e63b1fc feat(skills, babysit): integrate --no-push-hooks pushes past a pre-push hook that hangs on a stuck syspolicyd, and the reference says what to do meanwhile
  • 349ee4a feat(skills, babysit): pick-unified carries judged round commits onto the integration branch, sharing restack's higher-version resolution
  • 51bd0f3 feat(skills, babysit): land.ts runs the landing recipe as one command, squash to merge, with argument-array git calls
  • 1ecb0da feat(skills, babysit): watch-reviews is a Monitor source that prints a PR only when its head, bot review or open threads change
  • c9fa851 feat(skills, babysit): swift-typecheck proves Swift compiles without launching a binary, and every hooks-off switch also disables config hooks
  • ed64828 fix(skills, babysit): hooks stay on for commits and pushes; --no-push-hooks counts only while a fresh executable provably stalls
  • 7f6cce4 fix(skills, babysit): integrate gates Biome by its exit code over the round's changed files
  • 3d945c3 docs(skills, babysit): the lead decides an out-of-scope critical or high deferral in the same round, and judges Swift only after its tests ran
  • 7214a47 feat(skills, babysit): watch-workers names each worker's current PR and round, so a reused worker's name never reads as its first PR
  • b4abeb7 feat(skills, babysit): land.ts refuses a PR with more than 10 commits after its review squash
  • 35c9065 test(skills, babysit): the hooks test's positive-control git spawns get the test env, as lint-rules requires
  • aeab6b9 fix(skills, babysit): the commit limit is an opt-in --max-commits, not a rule for every PR
  • 6ad4855 feat(skills, babysit): every reviewer audited on a PR, and the config hooks put back before a commit or push
  • 362dc4a fix(skills, babysit): round-ready reports every reviewer's latest review of the head and the PR comments by others
  • ad510c3 fix(skills, babysit): the audit names each flagged thread's id, and fill-brief takes --wt for a worktree not named after its PR
  • 1c23258 docs(skills, babysit): watch every reviewer and the merged PRs, audit before each report, kill only a proven own process
  • 5a9ca48 docs(skills, babysit): a plant must break behaviour, not the compile, and the new test runs by its own name
  • 3ec7415 fix(skills, babysit): steer logs the prompt before delivering it, so the watcher names the new turn's PR
  • 9bf2b38 fix(skills, babysit): the audit tells a thread we resolved with the answer in the round summary from one the reviewer resolved unanswered
  • 0740158 fix(skills, babysit): steer and wait-turn start this checkout's tools by absolute path, so a run for another repository reaches its worker
  • 6297d31 docs(skills, babysit): a CodeRabbit thread the loop resolved silently carries its answer in the round summary, so it gets no hand reply
  • aacd38e fix(skills, babysit): a push with --skip-gates still runs the personal-data probe, and fails only on a hit in a line it adds
  • e6671f4 fix(skills, babysit): a run card for another repository names its own verify commands, so its brief no longer lists GenesisTools' checks
  • a67e70e fix(skills, babysit): watch-workers reads every --run ledger, so a worker steered from another repository's run shows its current PR and round
  • 1b6422d fix(skills, babysit): a review counts at the head only when it is newer than the last force-push, since GitHub moves an older review onto a rebased head
  • 34bd954 docs(skills, babysit): a Swift round is judged by every test class that exercises the changed sources, since the worker's own filters missed a broken master test
  • 125ec01 feat(skills, babysit): integrate pushes a planned restack with a lease on the old head and gates only the PR's own commits, so a restacked round no longer needs a hand push
  • 8729093 feat(skills, babysit): review-brief.ts writes the independent review brief from one PR number, since a hand-edited copy sent two reviewers to another PR's description
  • 326278e fix(ai, agents): a Codex turn that ended on an API error is reported as failed with exit 4, not as done, so a dead worker thread no longer looks finished
  • 4028f91 feat(skills, babysit): plant.ts runs the planted-regression check with a guaranteed restore, since two hand-written plant loops failed silently and one left pre-fix code in a worktree
  • 55cffd9 fix(skills, babysit): integrate drops the thread ref from a lead finding, since post-replies tried to answer a review-session thread that does not exist
  • ad1b602 docs(skills, swift): a window's hosting view sizing, value inputs for tabs and rows, and git marks off the main thread, with the file-tree bench
  • c800fc9 fix(skills, babysit): setup-wt moves an existing clean worktree to a force-pushed PR's new head instead of failing on worktree add
  • 776162c fix(ci): every committed JSON file must parse, in the pre-commit hook and in CI, because Biome reads only the root's JSON files and d9687720a's broken plugin manifests passed both
  • 272c454 fix(skills, babysit): one tested conflict helper whose picks are sides or explicit text, never bare strings, checks every resolution for leftover markers and JSON that does not parse, and the version resolver refuses a broken side
  • 412cd05 fix(skills, babysit): the approval driver names the exit code and output of a failed codex status, and after ten failures in a row hands over to the lead instead of printing an empty error every 1.5 s until its deadline
  • b49b2e5 fix(ci, agents): the shell guard blocks biome --unsafe and pre-commit fails a comment block deleted with the import under it, because the unsafe noUnusedImports fix silently deleted a 27-line file header
  • 7fbcdfb fix(skills, babysit): Codex workers default to Sol and take Astra only for a named PR, a finding Sol missed twice, or a cross-system finding, because sizing by PR put 47 of 62 overnight rounds and $903 of $924 on Astra
  • e51e904 docs(skills, swift): a programmatic setFrame posts no move notification, a passing plant is a finding, helper-only tests miss their call site, onChange can miss a change, fresh test executables crashed syspolicyd, and test defaults suites leave plists
  • a209f8b docs(skills, performance): the performance skill learns the process-layer migration's lessons, persistent fixtures for tests that start an executable, and how to read a green CI run that carries failing tests
  • a66f014 docs(skills, swift, ux): lessons from the viewer's dead clicks and PostureWatcher (2026-10-14)
  • 57b8c1c docs(skills, performance): the fixture folder on macOS is the per-user temp folder, and a run makes each fixture once again only after macOS cleans it
  • 1aa2206 docs(skills, swift): the swift skill links the camera and Vision reference and names where window-move and system-touching test traps live
  • 89253e2 docs(skills, performance): a full suite in the Linux container proves nothing alone, because master itself fails 52 tests there that CI passes, so compare with the base commit in the same container
  • 4b2a9b8 fix(skills, babysit): --run takes the run folder or its run.json and refuses a missing folder, because a run.json path fell back to the current checkout's repo and round-ready reported another repository's PR
  • 3a603f7 feat(skills, babysit): round-ready --wait blocks until the reviewer bot reviewed each head, because a one-off waiter grepped a form the script never prints and sat out its whole deadline
  • 946aa32 docs(skills, swift): a new command-line flag needs a test through the parser that runs live
  • f497c14 docs(skills, swift, ux): the approval window's first two tries go into the ux ledger and the swift gotchas (modal loop stops main-queue timers, title bar inset, cut grid text, dialog render for review)
  • 0a397f9 docs(skills, performance): the performance skill records what the process-layer verification measured: ps comm= is argv[0], ps %cpu is recent thread usage, the Linux name and open-file rules, and how to compare old and new fairly
  • 79148cc docs(skills, swift, ux): the markdown viewer's dead clicks came back with 100 tabs; how to diagnose them without the user's focus
  • 51f8adb docs(skills, performance): the performance skill records why only ps names another user's process and how to ask it cheaply (ps -u before -A, never a ps -p list)
  • 6c255f5 docs(skills, swift): wait for a free Swift slot by process name; pgrep -f matches the waiting shell itself
  • f2be280 docs(skills, performance): a native stall can be an outside accessibility client's query; 100 tabs cost 785 ms per hit test
  • bdc9034 fix(ai, agents): message --wait reports a stall only for the turn that answers, because an idle session whose last turn never wrote its end read STALLED at once, seconds before the reply began
  • b80d5e6 feat(skills, babysit): the worker watcher prints shell commands only and counts the other tool calls at the turn end, because one Grok round printed 40 reads and greps in five minutes
  • e6fc8cc fix(skills, babysit): the Codex approval driver approves a chain of read-only commands and unwraps a double-quoted shell wrapper, because an independent reviewer woke the lead for 20 read-only requests in 10 minutes
  • e28e7e6 fix(skills, babysit): briefs wait for a free Swift slot by process name, and a brief for another repository no longer claims an installed node_modules
  • 00602be fix(skills, babysit): land.ts starts from a prepared regroup with --head and squash-merges with --squash, because it checked out the PR's remote head and threw a hand-made regroup away
  • 89f38d8 fix(skills, babysit): the worker watcher prints each line once per turn, because while a new Grok turn had no log yet the tail replayed the finished turn on every poll
  • deedbd8 fix(skills, babysit, swift): the Swift slot wait matches executable paths, because pgrep -x swift-build missed a build named swift-package
  • 19f2ecc fix(skills, babysit): integrate skips the GenesisTools gates for another repository's run card, because a Swift app's PR ran bunx tsgo and stopped the push
  • 836fba4 fix(skills, babysit): the worker watcher keeps its seen lines across turns, because at a new turn's start the tail read the previous turn and printed it again
  • a2061a4 fix(skills, babysit): the Codex approval driver reads an if-then-fi chain of readers as read-only, because a reviewer's first command asked the lead for a cat inside an if
  • 198300b fix(skills, babysit): the worker watcher prints a turn's RUNNING line and its hidden-call count once, because before a new turn's log existed both printed on every poll
  • 9cdd1e6 fix(skills, babysit): the worker watcher waits for a running turn's own log before it tails, because the tail followed the previous turn and replayed it at every turn start
  • 569f29b docs(skills, swift, ux): the markdown viewer's 2026-10-15 lessons: bridged paths in a model, a tree that never re-read its folders, far scrolls in a lazy list, SwiftUI rows in tests, and a debug build installed for daily use
  • 4410706 docs(skills, swift): a value the reader changes while scrolling gets its own observable, and an outline parses once per text (the markdown viewer, 2026-10-15)
  • 649dbc4 docs(skills, babysit): a worker brief says a failure the worker caused is work, because three Grok workers stopped at their first compile error with the fix already named
  • a2fe5b1 fix(skills, babysit): the worker watcher prints a turn's hidden-call count once at its end, because a tail that ended mid-turn printed a partial count on every poll
  • d166b51 feat(skills, babysit, swift): swift-slot runs one Swift command under a lock file, because two process-list waiters started their test runs in the same second
  • ddbbb80 fix(skills, babysit): swift-slot takes the command without a separator, because bun consumes a -- that directly follows the script
  • 3ecd0fa docs(skills, swift): a SwiftUI animation re-renders the whole graph it lives in; a fade over a big window belongs to Core Animation (the viewer's tab switch, 222 → 92 ms of main thread)
  • e6d4392 chore(tools): the rebased unified branch takes each file's three-way merge of master and unified, where the replay left a file that matches neither
  • 641504e fix(skills, babysit): swift-slot reads the process table through the process layer, because a ps spawn per wait fails the no-process-tool-spawn lint and blocks every unified push
  • 11fc193 fix(skills, babysit): integrate names the round's reply and summary files from the PR and round, because a worker file named 524-r2.json made the summary overwrite it and nothing got posted

61 files changed, 5588 insertions(+), 59 deletions(-).

08dfb2f keeps its hunks on three files only (watch-workers.ts, src/hub/lib/open.ts, headless.test.ts); its other files already equal master.

Review

Review rounds run with GPT-6.1 Sol: one worker fixes the bot threads, a second one reviews the code independently, and Claude judges each round before its push.

Repository quality checks

Layer / File(s) Summary
Pre-commit and CI validation
.githooks/pre-commit, scripts/ci/check-json.ts, scripts/ci/check-lost-comments.ts, .github/workflows/ci.yml, .gitignore
Staged formatting now uses a temporary mirror. JSON parsing and lost-comment checks run in hooks, and JSON parsing also runs in CI.
Quality-check coverage
scripts/ci/pre-commit-hook.test.ts
Tests cover staged formatting, JSON rules, lost comments, renames, Git failures, and special filenames.

Agent turn reporting

Layer / File(s) Summary
Turn state and wait outcomes
src/utils/ai/transcripts/turn-state.ts, src/utils/ai/transcripts/turn-wait.ts, src/ai/commands/agent/wait.ts, src/ai/commands/agent/wait.test.ts, src/utils/ai/transcripts/*test.ts, src/claude/commands/cmux/send.ts
Completed turn errors are preserved and reported with exit code 4. Wait fencing ignores stale stalled turns. The success indicator changes from √ to ✔.

Shell safety rule

Layer / File(s) Summary
Biome unsafe-fix rule
src/utils/shell/rules/biome.ts, src/utils/shell/rules/index.ts, src/utils/shell/rules/rules.test.ts
The shell-rule registry detects unsafe Biome fix flags and suggests safe replacements. Tests cover supported runners, repeated flags, values, and non-matching commands.

Engineering guidance

Layer / File(s) Summary
Operational and engineering documentation
.claude/rules/tests.md, .claude/skills/performance/*, .claude/skills/swift/*, .claude/skills/ux/*
The documentation adds guidance for persistent test fixtures, process profiling, Swift UI and performance behavior, and safe live testing.

Change: Feature

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to c8074

The new pre-commit formatting pass can fail on dashboard files. An agent wait can hang when an earlier turn stays stalled. The unsafe-Biome guard misses yarn exec biome. Hook tests create and start temporary executables, a pattern the repository prohibits because it has frozen macOS. Fix these before merging. The other findings are small follow-ups.

Review fixes 2026-10-16 20:30 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5

Round 1. 7 open threads (eve 7, CodeRabbit 0), plus 3 lead findings. 8 fixed, 0 rejected, 2 already done. The manifest findings overlap and share one fix.

Verify manifest conflicts are version-only (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Taking a whole manifest side can discard non-version conflicts and fields Git already merged.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    git(["checkout", higherVersionSide(ours, theirs), "--", file]);
  • Code after:
    const text = resolveVersionText(readFileSync(join(root.out.trim(), file), "utf8"));
    if (text === null) {
        return false;
    }
  • How was this fixed: Resolve version-only blocks in the merged working text, validate all results before writing, and refuse any block containing other fields. scripts.test.ts checks mixed-field refusal and preserves a merged skills path in a real Git conflict.
  • Confidence: 97%

Validate every sed argument (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Additional sed scripts could write or execute despite the first script being a reader.
  • Commit(s): c6add78aa
  • Verdict: already done
  • How was this fixed: The starting source already rejects every option after the first range script. c6add78 added negative extra -e and -f cases and ordinary-reader controls.
  • Confidence: 97%

Keep launched executable probes on disk (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Deleting a newly launched executable can race syspolicyd, including after a timeout.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    rmSync(dir, { recursive: true, force: true });
  • Code after:
    // syspolicyd may still be checking this executable after the child exits or is signalled. Keep it.
    return !started;
  • How was this fixed: Keep each fresh probe executable in place on success and timeout. scripts.test.ts runs the existing interpreter as a safe adapter and confirms both generated probe files remain.
  • Confidence: 97%

Refuse incomplete lsof listings (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Nonempty stdout with a failing lsof exit can omit open files and permit unsafe reclamation.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    if (!out.includes("\nn/")) {
  • Code after:
    if (p.exitCode !== 0 || p.stderr.length > 0 || !out.includes("\nn/")) {
        throw new Error(`lsof listing incomplete (exit ${p.exitCode}): refusing to judge what is open`);
    }
  • How was this fixed: Require exit zero, empty stderr, and an absolute-path listing before proceeding. scripts.test.ts rejects a partial exit-1 listing and an empty successful listing, with a complete-listing control.
  • Confidence: 97%

Propagate required posting failures (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Integration returned success when post-replies or a direct follow-up failed.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    console.log(posted.code === 0 ? "posted" : "posting failed");
  • Code after:
    process.exitCode = postingExitCode(posted.code, followups);
  • How was this fixed: Record post-replies exit status and every direct follow-up result in the ledger, then set a failing process exit code if any failed. scripts.test.ts covers batch failure, direct-reply failure, and all-success cases.
  • Confidence: 97%

Require executed regression-test evidence (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: A nonzero planted exit could merely indicate compilation failure, zero tests, or an incomplete run.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    if (planted.code === 0) {
  • Code after:
    if (!testEvidence(planted, true)) {
  • How was this fixed: Require executed failing tests in the planted run and completed passing tests after restoration, including the Bun wrapper completion marker. scripts.test.ts rejects compilation-only, zero-test and incomplete outputs, and accepts Bun and XCTest controls.
  • Confidence: 97%

Include the worker final report (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: The pack omitted the worker report and its verification claims and OPEN items.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    const out: string[] = [];
  • Code after:
    const report = flag("--report");
    out.push("# Worker final report", "", report ? readFileSync(report, "utf8") : "Worker report missing", "");
  • How was this fixed: Add --report , print its complete contents before claims and diff, and explicitly flag a missing report. scripts.test.ts runs judge-pack and confirms VERIFY, OPEN, and diff sections appear.
  • Confidence: 97%

Reject attached Git pager execution (lead, no thread)

  • Context: An attached -O command could execute through git grep despite reader approval.
  • Commit(s): f1388515e
  • Verdict: already done
  • How was this fixed: Already fixed in f138851 before this round: all -O forms and long pager forms are refused. Existing regression controls pass.
  • Confidence: 97%

Detect added personal-data hits in paths with spaces (lead, no thread)

  • Context: An older simple-path hit hid a new hit in docs/New Guide.md because both parsers excluded spaces.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    for (const match of probeOutput.matchAll(/^\s+([^:\s]+):(\d+):/gm)) {
  • Code after:
    const hit = /^ {4}(.+?):(\d+):/.exec(line);
    return hit && !hit[1].startsWith('"') ? { file: hit[1], line: Number(hit[2]) } : null;
  • How was this fixed: Share a space-capable hit parser, treat malformed or quoted hit lines as blockers, and read Git diff paths without non-ASCII quoting. scripts.test.ts checks older-plus-new-space-path hits through probeAddedLines, malformed hits, quoted diff paths, and older-only success.
  • Confidence: 97%

Preserve unrelated merged manifest fields (lead, no thread)

  • Context: Choosing one whole side discarded a skills path that Git successfully merged outside the version conflict.
  • Commit(s): 37f6087da
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    git(["checkout", higherVersionSide(ours, theirs), "--", file]);
  • Code after:
    const text = resolveVersionText(readFileSync(join(root.out.trim(), file), "utf8"));
    if (text === null) {
        return false;
    }
  • How was this fixed: Resolve only version lines in the working-tree conflict blocks. The existing real-Git test now changes skills on the lower-version branch and asserts that the higher version and merged skills path both survive. Mixed-field conflicts are refused.
  • Confidence: 97%

Review fixes 2026-10-16 21:14 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5

Round 2. 6 open threads (eve 6, CodeRabbit 0). 6 fixed, 0 rejected, 0 already done. The saved review bodies and bot PR comments contain no additional actionable findings.

Parse logging destinations as literal shell words (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: A destination containing shell operators or expansions passed the scratch-path check and could execute a second command.
  • Commit(s): 1cac3236e
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    if (logged && inScratch(entry, logged[2]) && !/[<>]/.test(logged[1])) {
  • Code after:
    const destination = logged ? strictShellWords(logged[2]) : null;
    if (logged && destination?.length === 1 && inScratch(entry, destination[0]) && !/[<>]/.test(logged[1])) {
  • How was this fixed: Parse the whole destination with strictShellWords, require exactly one word, then validate the decoded scratch path. The log-redirection regression rejects the reported semicolon and IFS payload, substitutions, pipelines, background operators, newlines, globs and extra words; normal and quoted-space scratch logs still pass.
  • Confidence: 97%

Use kernel ownership for the Swift slot (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Two stale-lock waiters could each delete a newly acquired lock, and a disappearing PID file could throw during takeover.
  • Commit(s): 1cac3236e
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    unlinkSync(LOCK);
    return tryLock();
  • Code after:
    const fd = openSync(lock, "a+");
    if (libc.symbols.flock(fd, 2 | 4) !== 0) {
        closeSync(fd);
        libc.close();
        return null;
    }
  • How was this fixed: Replace the PID-file takeover with a nonblocking exclusive flock held by an open descriptor. The inode is never unlinked, ownership releases on exit, and explicit release is idempotent. The existing test file launches two Bun contenders against one stale file, proves exactly one owner, proves another contender is refused, verifies reacquisition after owner exit, and covers an initially missing lock file. No Swift command runs.
  • Confidence: 97%

Pass a consistent package identity to swiftc (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Standalone compiler calls omitted the package name required for package-access declarations and their consumers.
  • Commit(s): 1cac3236e
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    Bun.spawnSync(["xcrun", "swiftc", "-target", triple, ...args], {
  • Code after:
    return ["xcrun", "swiftc", "-target", options.triple, "-package-name", identity, ...options.args];
  • How was this fixed: Derive one compiler-safe package identity from the package directory and add -package-name through the common compiler command for every target. The regression runs the typecheck driver with a mocked compiler that rejects missing or inconsistent identities and verifies all three library, executable and test invocations. Swift compilation and native Swift tests were intentionally not run under this brief.
  • Confidence: 97%

Cache ledger task attribution between metadata changes (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Each output line reread and reparsed every full run ledger and sorted the events again while draining child output.
  • Commit(s): 1cac3236e
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    const last = runDirs
        .flatMap((dir) => readEvents(dir))
        .filter((event) => event.worker === name && (event.kind === "steer" || event.kind === "spawn"))
        .sort((a, b) => a.at.localeCompare(b.at))
        .at(-1);
  • Code after:
    let cached = cache.get(dir);
    if (!cached || cached.stamp !== stamp) {
        const tasks = new Map<string, LedgerEvent>();
  • How was this fixed: Cache each ledger by inode, size, mtime and ctime, retaining only its latest task event per worker. Only changed ledgers are reparsed; a removed ledger loses its cached attribution. The regression performs 200 lookups across two unchanged ledgers and observes two reads total, then one additional read after a steer and correct fallback after removal.
  • Confidence: 97%

Skip only a proven empty cherry-pick (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Any continuation error was treated as an empty pick, and a failed skip was ignored, allowing nonempty changes to be dropped silently.
  • Commit(s): 1cac3236e
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    git(["cherry-pick", "--skip"]);
    console.log(`= ${sha} empty after the version resolution, skipped: ${subject}`);
  • Code after:
    const index = git(["diff", "--cached", "--quiet", "HEAD", "--"]);
    if (state.code !== 0 || unmerged.code !== 0 || unmerged.out.trim() || index.code !== 0) {
        return continued;
    }
  • How was this fixed: After a continuation failure require CHERRY_PICK_HEAD, an empty unmerged-file list and a successful empty-index check before skipping. A nonempty or unverifiable pick is preserved and exits nonzero with its diagnostic; a failed skip also propagates failure. The regression covers normal continuation, nonempty failure, empty skip, missing state, unmerged entries and skip failure.
  • Confidence: 97%

Record successful landing pushes immediately (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Landing pushed without a push ledger event, leaving no push record if a later merge step failed.
  • Commit(s): 1cac3236e
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    must(push, "push");
  • Code after:
    must(push, "push");
    recordLandingPush({ run: run.dir, pr, branch, oldHead, newHead, result: push });
  • How was this fixed: Record the PR, branch, previous head and new head immediately after the successful push check, before fetch or merge work. The regression verifies the durable push event and proves that a rejected push cannot add one. No actual push or merge was executed.
  • Confidence: 97%

Review fixes 2026-10-16 21:43 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5

Round 3. 6 open Eve threads and 2 independent High findings. 6 fixed, including the lead's environment fix in 627dbc8; 2 Medium findings deferred to follow-up PRs as belongs-elsewhere, per lead instruction. Saved review bodies and bot comments contain no additional actionable findings.

Allowlist review reads and flags (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: The GitHub review deny list omitted real posting and resolving flags and the comment subcommand.
  • Commit(s): 065a9c077
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    !args.some((arg) => /^-?-?(respond|resolve|reply|unresolve)$/.test(arg))
  • Code after:
    if (!values.has(option)) {
        return false;
    }
  • How was this fixed: Allow only numeric-PR reads, expand, summary and sessions, with complete read flag and value parsing. Unknown operations, write flags, worktree creation and save operations require the lead. The regression rejects all reported write forms and retains ordinary, inline-value, expand, summary and session controls.
  • Confidence: 97%

Refuse fable operations with additional write targets (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Only section headers were scope checked; move destinations and importer rewrites escaped that enumeration.
  • Commit(s): 065a9c077
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    const targets = match[4].split("\n").filter((line) => line.startsWith("@@"));
  • Code after:
    const lines = match[3].split("\n");
    if (lines.some((line) => line.startsWith("<<<") && /(?:^|\s)(?:move|to=|imports=|renameTo=)/.test(line.slice(3)))) {
        return false;
    }
  • How was this fixed: Require the lead for every move or destination/import modifier, including no-space markers. Refuse JSON specs in this shortcut so comment text cannot masquerade as a scoped section while a JSON entry names another destination. Regression negatives cover outside and scoped moves, import rewrites, modifier order, no-space markers and a JSON-comment disguise; ordinary scoped replacement remains approved.
  • Confidence: 97%

Disable text converters for approved Git reads (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Configured text converters could execute programs despite the command being classified as a reader.
  • Commit(s): 065a9c077
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    arg === "--ext-diff" ||
  • Code after:
    arg.startsWith("--ext-diff") ||
    arg.startsWith("--textconv") ||
  • How was this fixed: Require --no-textconv before the path separator for diff, show, log, blame and grep, plus --no-ext-diff for diff, show and log. Reject re-enabling flags. Regression controls cover each reader and flags placed after --. A scratch Git repository proves its configured converter executes in the fixture control, then proves an approved read does not execute it.
  • Confidence: 97%

Validate the full fable invocation and heredoc (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Raw prefix parsing permitted shell expansion, and an earlier standalone delimiter could terminate the actual heredoc before later commands.
  • Commit(s): 065a9c077
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    const match = /^((?:[A-Z_]+=\S+ )*)bun (\S+) <<'([A-Za-z0-9_]+)'\n([\s\S]*)\n\3\s*$/.exec(command);
  • Code after:
    const prefix = strictShellWords(match[1]);
    if (!prefix || prefix.length < 2 || prefix[prefix.length - 2] !== "bun") {
        return false;
    }
  • How was this fixed: Parse the entire assignment-and-executable prefix as strict literal shell words and reject a delimiter appearing before the final closing line. Keep the lead's restrictive environment value check. Regression negatives include the original environment probe, IFS substitution, a premature delimiter and executable-path substitution; an execution spy throws if any denied payload reaches Bun.spawnSync, with the trusted ordinary invocation as control.
  • Confidence: 97%

Keep repeated shell events visible (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Display-text deduplication hides distinct equal shell calls across turns.
  • Verdict: belongs to another PR (Deferred to a follow-up PR under the round 3 severity policy)
  • Why: Deferred to a follow-up PR because this Medium finding needs event-identity handling across worker feeds and round 3 is limited to Critical and High fixes.
  • Confidence: 97%

Fail judge packs on Git read errors (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Git failures can produce an incomplete pack while the script returns success.
  • Verdict: belongs to another PR (Deferred to a follow-up PR under the round 3 severity policy)
  • Why: Deferred to a follow-up PR because this Medium failure-handling change falls outside round 3's Critical and High scope.
  • Confidence: 97%

Reject expansion in fable environment values (independent-review (GPT-6.1 Sol), no thread)

  • Context: The original probe used TMPDIR command substitution to write outside the scoped edit before Bun started.
  • Commit(s): 627dbc899
  • Verdict: accepted
  • How was this fixed: The lead restricted the entire environment value to literal scratch-path characters in 627dbc8. The round 3 regression includes the original true-redirection substitution probe and verifies denial at the execution gate; literal-path invocation controls remain approved.
  • Confidence: 99%

Trust only approver-owned canonical fable CLI paths (independent-review (GPT-6.1 Sol), no thread)

  • Context: A worker-created script with the expected suffix was automatically approved as the editing tool.
  • Commit(s): 065a9c077
  • Verdict: accepted
  • How was this fixed: Resolve the CLI through symlinks and compare it with the main checkout's editor or the canonical Codex plugin-cache version path. Reject temporary and worker scratch paths before and after resolution. The regression rejects an identically suffixed worker script and a worker-scratch symlink to the trusted editor, spies on command execution, and retains main-checkout and installed-cache controls.
  • Confidence: 97%

Review fixes 2026-10-16 21:51 from Claude Opus 5.5 judged by Claude Opus 5.5

Round 4. An independent GPT-6.1 Sol review of the round 3 fixes found no new Critical, High, Medium or Low finding in the approval driver. It found one regression in the lead's pre-commit hook change from round 3, which the lead fixed; the reviewer then checked that fix with real Biome runs.

The hook's sibling copy is formatted again (GPT-6.1 Sol (independent review), no thread)

  • Context: Round 3 made the hook format a hidden sibling file (biome's stdin output swaps ✔ ✖ ⚠ ℹ for √ × ! i). The same change put .biome-staged.* in .gitignore, and biome honours .gitignore (vcs.useIgnoreFile), so it checked 0 files and the staged copy went into the commit unformatted.
  • Commit(s): aa075154d
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    if ! bunx biome check --write --no-errors-on-unmatched "$sibling" > /dev/null; then
  • Code after:
    if ! bunx biome check --write --no-errors-on-unmatched --vcs-use-ignore-file=false "$sibling" > /dev/null; then
  • How was this fixed: The sibling run turns biome's ignore file off. In a scratch clone with an unstaged extra line, the new hook stores the formatted copy and keeps ✔; the round 3 hook stores it unformatted. The reviewer reproduced both runs.
  • Confidence: 95%

Commits this round

  • aa075154d fix(ci): the pre-commit hook's sibling run turns biome's ignore file off, because .gitignore lists the sibling and biome checked 0 files

Review fixes 2026-10-17 02:22 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5

Round 5. The saved inputs contain 0 new open threads (eve 0, CodeRabbit 0) and no additional actionable findings. Both carried round-3 Eve findings and both policy corrections are fixed. Two commits were explicitly authorized when the policy corrections arrived after the first commit.

Keep repeated shell events visible (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Session-long display-text deduplication hid distinct repeated shell calls, including across turns. This finding was previously deferred in round 3.
  • Commit(s): 3cf803a49
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    sayOnce(w, `tool ${call}`);
  • Code after:
    say(w, `tool ${call}`);
  • How was this fixed: Remove display-text deduplication. Grok replays use turn and stream position, preserving equal calls at distinct positions and in new turns. Codex prints every delivered event from its session-long stream. Preserve hidden-tool counts across partial Grok tails and refuse to tail an older turn when the expected log is missing. The existing test file exercises repeated Codex calls, repeated Grok calls, growing partial tails, exact replay suppression and new turns.
  • Confidence: 97%

Fail judge packs on Git read errors (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: The Git helper ignored exit status and stderr, so failed reads could produce an apparently successful empty or incomplete pack. This finding was previously deferred in round 3.
  • Commit(s): 3cf803a49
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    const git = (args: string[]) =>
        Bun.spawnSync(["git", "-C", wt, ...args], { stdout: "pipe", stderr: "pipe" }).stdout.toString();
  • Code after:
    if (result.exitCode !== 0) {
        throw new Error(`git ${args.join(" ")} failed (exit ${result.exitCode}): ${result.stderr.toString().trim()}`);
    }
  • How was this fixed: Check every Git read and throw with the failed command, exit status and stderr before emitting or writing the pack. Tests run the CLI against invalid refs and worktrees, then inject failures at log, stat, name-list and per-file diff stages. Every case exits nonzero, reports its diagnostic, emits no pack to stdout and preserves an existing output file. The valid HEAD..HEAD report control still passes.
  • Confidence: 99%

Fix required files in the same PR instead of deferring for scope (lead, no thread)

  • Context: The worker brief instructed agents to leave valid findings as no-change when fixes needed files outside the original PR diff, dependencies or interface changes.
  • Commit(s): 679de8d43
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    - A finding whose fix needs a file outside the PR, a new dependency, or a change to a public interface that code
      outside the PR uses: do NOT fix that one, and do NOT stop the round for it.
  • Code after:
    - A fix that needs a file outside the PR's original diff changes that file in this PR, and the reply explains why.
      The same applies to necessary new files, dependencies and public-interface changes: update the callers and tests
      the fix needs. Fix every valid finding in this PR; never defer it or call it out of scope.
  • How was this fixed: Replace the scope exception and opening file restriction in the self-fetch brief, align the manual brief template, and restrict no-change to findings disproved by a cited file:line. The generated-brief regression failed on the old scope text and now verifies rounds 1, 3 and 5 permit every required file without deferral.
  • Confidence: 99%

Require every valid finding in every round (lead, no thread)

  • Context: The skill allowed only Critical and High fixes in later rounds and accepted scope-based deferrals; the brief generator also emitted that old policy.
  • Commit(s): 679de8d43
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    5. **Round policy.** review-loop decides what gets fixed in each round (rounds 1 and 2: every valid finding; later
       rounds: critical and high).
  • Code after:
    5. **Round policy.** Fix every valid finding in its PR in every round, Medium and Low included. Martin,
       2026-10-17: "nothing is a follow up or out of scope". A deferral is not accepted.
  • How was this fixed: Update round policy, scope guidance and judging instructions; make fill-brief emit the all-severity rule in every round and align both brief templates. Keep the existing post-merge handling unchanged. A regression generates actual briefs for rounds 1, 3 and 5 using a mocked GitHub response and checks the all-severity policy and required-file permission.
  • Confidence: 99%

Review fixes 2026-10-17 03:27 from GPT-6.1 Sol judged by Claude Opus 5.5

Round 6. 1 open thread (eve 1, CodeRabbit 0), plus 1 harness finding from the lead. 2 fixed, 0 rejected, 0 already done. Review bodies and bot PR comments contain no additional unanswered actionable findings.

Watch the running Grok turn instead of the completed-turn count (eve-bot-lovinka)

  • Context: Grok status exposes turns as the number of finished turns. The watcher used that count as the running log number, waiting for turn 0 on the first turn and checking the previous log on later turns.
  • Commit(s): 265449847
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    const meta = SafeJSON.parse(result.stdout.toString(), { strict: true });
    return { running: Boolean(meta.running), turns: meta.turns ?? 0, exitCode: meta.lastTurn?.exitCode };
  • Code after:
    const running = Boolean(meta.running);
    const completed = Number.isInteger(meta.turns) && meta.turns >= 0 ? meta.turns : 0;
    const active = meta.activeTurn?.turn;
    const turns = running ? (Number.isInteger(active) && active > 0 ? active : completed + 1) : completed;
    return { running, turns, exitCode: meta.lastTurn?.exitCode };
  • How was this fixed: Normalize running status to activeTurn.turn, falling back to completed turns plus one; idle status retains the finished-turn count. The existence guard and event replay identity therefore use the same active turn. A real watch-loop regression supplies turns: 0 with only the turn-1 log, checks both explicit active metadata and fallback, and checks an explicit turn different from completed plus one. It asserts command, question, start and completion output. Existing pump replay controls still pass. The old source produced turn 0 RUNNING and log unavailable in the baseline.
  • Confidence: 98%

Read real XCTest and Bun totals while distinguishing import failures from behavior catches (lead, no thread)

  • Context: The plant harness rejected nonzero Bun runs without the wrapper completion marker and ignored a failing XCTest count when a later count was zero. Import failures could be mistaken for caught behavior faults instead of identifying a broken plant. The judge also found skipped-test XCTest totals were not parsed, logged SyntaxError fixture text vetoed a completed Bun pass, the loose Bun matcher counted test names, and the ANSI test did not catch removal of stripping.
  • Commit(s): 265449847, 7ebafd7d2
  • Verdict: accepted
  • Code before:
    if (out.includes("[test] suite complete")) {
        const pass = [...out.matchAll(/^\s*(\d+) pass$/gm)].reduce((n, m) => n + Number(m[1]), 0);
        const fail = [...out.matchAll(/^\s*(\d+) fail$/gm)].reduce((n, m) => n + Number(m[1]), 0);
        return out.includes(`[test] suite complete (exit ${code})`) && (failing ? fail > 0 && /^\(fail\)/m.test(out) : pass > 0 && fail === 0);
    }
    const total = [...out.matchAll(/Executed (\d+) tests?, with (\d+) failures?/g)].at(-1);
    return !!total && Number(total[1]) > 0 && (failing ? Number(total[2]) > 0 : Number(total[2]) === 0);
  • Code after:
    const text = stripVTControlCharacters(out);
    const bun = [...text.matchAll(/^\s*(\d+) (pass|fail)\s*$/gm)];
    const swift = [...text.matchAll(/Executed (\d+) tests?, with (?:\d+ tests? skipped and )?(\d+) failures?[^\n]*/g)];
  • How was this fixed: The original fix accepts counted nonzero failures, detects zero-pass import breakage with the requested CLI diagnostic, and verifies source restoration. Judge correction 7ebafd7 parses optional singular/plural skipped-test clauses in XCTest totals, lets completed passing counts decide despite logged fixture errors, and anchors Bun counts to whole summary lines after ANSI stripping. It removes the synthetic inline-count positive fixture because the supplied real Bun output uses separate summary lines. Inline excerpts copied from both supplied real logs cover skipped XCTest totals and the passing 944-pass Bun run. A synthetic test name containing 3 fail cannot alter those real summary counts. These three new regressions failed on 2654498. Replacing stripping with const text = out made the new ANSI test fail (1 fail); the fixed source was restored and the complete suite passed with 68 pass, 0 fail, 675 assertions. No Swift process ran.

⚠️ Potential issue

Refresh live-session protection before each reclamation

Apply computes protectedEntries() only once before processing the whole plan, although each candidate scan can take 20 seconds and there is no total apply deadline. A session that resumes later in that loop can update its native transcript and become live without modifying or keeping a file open in its old scratch directory. Its ID remains absent from the cached protection passed here, so the fresh lsof check does not prevent deleting that live session's scratch. Refresh transcript-based live protection immediately before authorizing each move, alongside the existing open-file refresh, and test a transcript becoming live between candidates. This is required by the script's stated never-touch-live-sessions guarantee.

🧩 Analysis

Grep evidence: const protection = protectedEntries\(\)|judge\(planned.path, protection, open\)|const freshOpen = openPaths

}

⚠️ Potential issue

Do not treat post-send tail bytes as proof of an answering turn

A busy predecessor can continue writing after the message is queued. If it writes more than TURN_TAIL_BYTES (256 KiB), its task_started record leaves the window and tailStartOffset advances past the pre-send transcript size. This branch then identifies that same predecessor as the answer: its task_complete returns done, or its silence returns stalled, before the queued answering turn starts. The timestamp fallback has the same problem when all retained predecessor events are newer than the send. Retain an observed turn identity/start across tail eviction, or locate an opening record after the fence; post-send output alone cannot establish that a new turn began. Add a regression with a queued message and a predecessor that produces more than one tail window after delivery.

🧩 Analysis

Grep evidence: tailStartOffset >= fence.openedFromByte|TURN_TAIL_BYTES =|snapshot.turnStartedAt === null
