What will it take to become an approved Kubernetes contributor? #1

I recently learned that we have already signed a general CLA with the CNCF, so we should be able to contribute to CNCF projects such as Kubernetes. I want to check if this is correct by getting approved. Doing this should make it easy to onboard new contributors. I will post progress here. Any thoughts?
