[Bug]: Line numbers not displaying

Bug summary

I have line numbers mode on with type absolute on, but not showing line numbers when editing files except for the Messages buffer

Steps to reproduce

1. Add the following lines to init.el

(global-display-line-numbers-mode 1)
(setq display-line-numbers-type 'absolute)

2. Launch neomacs
3. No line numbers observed except for Messages

Expected behavior

Should display line numbers by default when visiting files
