Prepares Imp 0.17.0. This is a minor release under Imp's versioning rule: #358 adds the :user_name and :assistant_name input keys, which are public API a caller can rely on. Same files as #355 (the 0.16.0 release).

  • Review follow-ups to Send a chat message's participant name to the provider #358.
    • Imp.Predict skips the extra-input warning for :user_name only when the adapter builds its messages with Chat's assembly (Chat, JSON, XML, PlanFirst). Any other adapter still warns. A test covers that case.
    • The docs, the CHANGELOG and the release notes say that many upstreams accept name but don't show it to the model: Google, DeepSeek, Kimi, Mistral, Grok, and open-weight models served through hosts such as DeepInfra.
  • Release.
    • Version 0.17.0 in mix.exs, priv/public_api.json and test/package_contract_test.exs.
    • Install lines are ~> 0.17.0. That covers the README, the docs, the livebooks and examples/deployment.
    • Tag links point to v0.17.0.
    • The CHANGELOG heading is ## 0.17.0 — 2026-10-18, and RELEASE_NOTES.md covers upgrading from 0.16.1.

The branch is still called release-0.16.2, because it started as 0.16.2.

mix check, quality.check, dialyzer.check and package.check (including the clean-room package proof) all pass.

…me is not shown

Imp.Predict exempts :user_name from the extra-input warning only for the
adapters that build messages with Chat's assembly (Chat, JSON, XML,
PlanFirst); any other adapter ignores it, so the warning stays. The Chat
docs note that many upstreams accept name without showing it to the
model.
Version 0.16.2 with tag links for v0.16.2; install lines stay ~> 0.16.0,
as for earlier patch releases. The changelog's Unreleased section goes
under 0.16.2, and the release notes describe #358 and the follow-up.
The new :user_name and :assistant_name input keys are public API a caller
can rely on, so under Imp's versioning rule this is a minor release:
version 0.17.0, install lines ~> 0.17.0, tag links for v0.17.0, the
changelog heading 0.17.0, and release notes for upgrading from 0.16.1.
