Add option to never leave transcripts on the clipboard - #34
Conversation
Add an opt-in This Mac toggle that restores the previous clipboard after every paste, including when insertion cannot be confirmed. Without it, unconfirmed pastes, changed targets, and takes without an editable field leave the transcript on the clipboard as a backup. Unconfirmed words stay in the app to copy. With the toggle on, the staged paste is supplied on demand. Once the target reads it after the paste is sent, the previous clipboard returns after one more confirmation poll. If the target never reads it, restoring waits up to 1.5 seconds instead of 700 ms, so a slow editor is less likely to paste the old clipboard.

📝 Walkthrough
Priority: ⬇️ Low Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to With the new clipboard-preservation option enabled, a clipboard manager can cause Inlay to restore the old clipboard before a slow app pastes. That app can then paste the wrong content. The option is off by default, but this timing issue should be addressed or explicitly accepted before merge. Pre-merge checks |

unidentified pasteboard read does not trigger restoration after one additional
poll. Keep the staged paste available until insertion is confirmed or the
restore-grace deadline expires, since the read may come from a clipboard manager
rather than the target app.

…ny read The pasteboard data provider cannot identify its reader. A clipboard manager reading after the paste was sent ended the wait early, so a slower target app could paste the previous clipboard into the document. Restore once insertion is confirmed or after 1.5 seconds, and drop the read signal. Co-authored-by: Ben Davis <bmdavis419@users.noreply.github.com>
…ssage The caption appeared only when the toggle was on, shifting the form, and restated the label. Match the no-field message to the other delivery failures. Co-authored-by: Ben Davis <bmdavis419@users.noreply.github.com>

Summary
Adds an opt-in Never leave transcripts on the clipboard toggle under This Mac. It is off by default and stored in
config.jsonaspreserveClipboard.Today, when a paste can't be confirmed (common in browsers and Electron apps, which report no caret), the transcript is kept on the clipboard as a backup and replaces whatever the user had copied. With the toggle on, the previous clipboard is always restored, and the words stay in Inlay to copy.
Without a backup, restoring too early would let a slow editor paste the old clipboard, which is easy to miss. So the staged item uses
NSPasteboardItemDataProvider: Inlay learns when the paste is actually read and restores right after, instead of waiting out a fixed window. Reads before ⌘V is sent (e.g. clipboard managers) are ignored. 1.5 s remains the upper bound if the target never reads it.TextDeliveryTransaction:preservesClipboarddisables every backup path, plus thePasteboardReadSignaldata provider and the read-aware confirmation loop.TextInserter: passes the setting through; the no-editable-field path fails with "Your clipboard was left unchanged" instead of copying.InlayController,PreferencesPage,InlayConfiguration: the toggle and its persisted flag, decoded like the other settings.docs/architecture.md: documents the clipboard behaviour.Evidence
After (toggle on): the previous clipboard comes back after the paste; with on-demand reads it returns almost immediately instead of after the full window. Checked manually in Inlay Dev.
