@amotl, found it! The image naming convention for InfluxDB 3 has changed significantly on Docker Hub.

The new OCI tag is influxdb:3-core (not influxdb:3.9).

The correct tag is influxdb:3-core, which represents the latest InfluxDB OSS (InfluxDB 3 Core).

A few other important changes to be aware of:

1. Port change: The InfluxDB 3 Core Docker image exposes port 8181 (the influxdb3 server default for HTTP connections), not 8086.

2. Start command: The server no longer auto-starts — you need to explicitly pass the influxdb3 serve command with options. A minimal example:

I was able to spin up a minimally configured InfluxDB 3 instance like this.

    influxdb:3.9-core --node-id=node0

Further proceedings will need to approach the new client package influxdb3-python.
