I would suggest using System.Text.Json instead of Newtonsoft.Json, is it possible?

Appreciate the suggestion.

Workflow Core (and several persistence/DSL providers) still serialize with Newtonsoft.Json in many places — workflow data, EF persistence payloads, DSL loaders, etc. A wholesale move to System.Text.Json would be a broad, breaking migration (behavior differences around dictionaries, TypeNameHandling-style cases, custom converters, and persisted payloads).

That is out of scope for the current maintenance bar: we prefer smallest coherent fixes and keep the engine embeddable without a serialization redesign.

Practical options today:

• Keep Newtonsoft for Workflow Core internals (it does not force your whole app off STJ).
• If you need STJ at the app boundary, convert at the edges when you load/save your definition documents.

If someone lands a carefully scoped, opt-in path later (without breaking existing persisted JSON), we can revisit — but it is not planned as a near-term change.
