I mainly just made these changes cause I wanted these extra features for my own esbuild projects, but I'd also like to contribute them back to the base project. I can split these into separate PRs if it's easier/there's any of these you don't like. Also the dependencies change was because I literally couldn't get npm to install the deps without it, but can drop that.
