Bummer, wish I had seen that you were working on this @tremor021 and that your Issue in their repo was closed regarding the thing that I just ran into today.
What if we just edit the invidious.cr file to remove all things git?
CURRENT_BRANCH = {{ "#{`git branch | sed -n '/* /s///p'`.strip}" }}
CURRENT_COMMIT = {{ "#{`git rev-list HEAD --max-count=1 --abbrev-commit`.strip}" }}
CURRENT_VERSION = {{ "#{`git log -1 --format=%ci | awk '{print $1}' | sed s/-/./g`.strip}" }}
CURRENT_TAG = {{ "#{`git tag --points-at HEAD`.strip}" }}
# This is used to determine the `?v=` on the end of file URLs (for cache busting). We
# only need to expire modified assets, so we can use this to find the last commit that changes
# any assets
ASSET_COMMIT = {{ "#{`git rev-list HEAD --max-count=1 --abbrev-commit -- assets`.strip}" }}
SOFTWARE = {
"name" => "invidious",
"version" => "#{CURRENT_VERSION}-#{CURRENT_COMMIT}",
"branch" => "#{CURRENT_BRANCH}",
}
Yea, thats a dirty hack that me personaly wouldnt want to do or maintain. If @community-scripts/contributor agree then its fine, but i feel it will be another hacky job that we will have issues with down the road.
Looking at how well @vhsdream is maintaing immich, btw. thanks for this, I don't see an issue here.
If that is something you think is reasonably doable and something you are interested in, sure why not.
While being hacky, imo it does not seem like a huge change.
I had the same issue as the thumbnails one about. I viewed the technical details and the results were:

I was able to deploy Invidious using the default installation option. I did not have issues adding a proxy to forward my domain to it on port 3000, and I was able to connect to it via PlayLet on my Roku. It only took maybe 20 minutes with no hitches. I will post here if there's any issues or deviations from my typical experience with the application.
Deployed successfully using advanced setup option. I'm also hitting the same issue as @Nomnomish but it looks like the solution is just pending a release upstream.
I can play videos, however they take a while to buffer. Still looking into that one, but unlikely to be related to the deployment script itself.
It worked for me and accounts worked but on the home screen (popular or trending) I get Error: non 200 status code. YouTube API returned status code 500. See https://docs.invidious.io/youtube-errors-explained/ for troubleshooting. Thanks so much micklesk for working on this I have been waiting for a while now. Oh and searching for a actual video and playing it works.
